North Korea may have nuclear weapons weaponBecause North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is "my friend," Donald Trump said.
Journalists asked the US president why North Korea can have nuclear weapons while Iran cannot, and he received a rather unexpected answer. The American leader stated that Kim Jong-un is his friend, and as long as Donald Trump leads the US, North Korea "will be fine." Furthermore, according to Trump, Kim Jong-un "respects" him.
He's my friend. He likes Trump. As long as I'm here, he'll be fine. You know why? He respects me.
As Trump admitted, Pyongyang only has "enormous nuclear potential" because previous US presidents allowed it to exist without "doing what I'm doing." But Trump never explained what exactly the US president is doing.
It's worth noting that Trump met with Kim Jong-un during his first term, but that meeting led to nothing serious. Pyongyang has no intention of abandoning its nuclear program, rightly believing that only the presence of nuclear weapons can save the republic from a US attack.
As Pyongyang recently stated, North Korea's nuclear status is irreversible, regardless of the position of the United States and its allies.
