Rheinmetall promotes RWG-155 Reno 52-mm ACS on the world market
The company Rheinmetall launched a marketing campaign to promote the 155-mm self-propelled howitzer RWG-52 (Rheinmetall Wheeled Gun) "Rino" with a barrel length 52 caliber to the world market.

The development of the ACS was carried out from 2008 on a self-financing basis for the purpose of export sales, primarily for the Armed Forces of India.

Production of the first prototype was completed in 2009 year, after which the ACS was tested in South Africa and India (as part of a tender for the supply of self-propelled wheeled howitzers).

The RWG-52 is mounted on an 6xXNNUMX chassis, which was previously used in the G-6 South African ACS. The South African company Industrial Industrial Design has taken part in the design.

The combat weight of the RWG-52 is 48 T, the length is 12,30 m, the height is 3,77 m, and the width is 3,7 m. The ACS is equipped with a 6-cylinder engine with the HP 523 power. and an automatic six-speed ZF gearbox, which allows it to reach a maximum speed on the highway 80 km / h, on rough terrain - 70 km / h. Power reserve - 700 km. ACS is equipped with a centralized tire inflation system. Calculation of installation - 3-5 people. The machine is equipped with a climate control system, filtering and protection from weapons mass destruction.

Despite the fact that for testing in India, the tower was placed on a wheeled chassis, it can also be integrated into a tracked platform, including the T-72, T-90 or Arjun MBT. Tracked version received the designation RTG-52 (Rheinmetall Tracked Gun 52 caliber). The speed on the highway - 60 km / h, over rough terrain - 45 km / h.

The ACS is equipped with an autonomous turret, similar in design to the ACS PzH-2000 turret, with an X / NUMX-mm L / 155 gun with a 52 barrel length (52 mm) and a charging chamber of 8060 volume l. Ammunition capacity is 23 shells and the required number of modular propellant charges placed in two stores. The replenishment time of ammunition from the transport-loading vehicle is 40 min.

The installation is equipped with an automatic loader system (with manual capability) and provides 6 firing rate / min.

The maximum ERFB M1 ammunition range is 31 km, the ERFB with a bottom gas generator is up to 42 km, and the special V-LAP rocket ammunition is 52 km. SPGs can fire SMArt 155 (Suchzunder-Munition fur die Artillerie 155) anti-tank artillery shells with homing combat elements.

SAU reservation provides all-round protection against anti-tank ammunition from a distance of 30 m, as well as protection in the front hemisphere from 14,5-mm ammunition. The ACS can withstand an explosion under any wheel on an anti-tank mine TM-46 with a charge equivalent to 5,3 kg of TNT.

There are no words. Some exclamation marks, if the performance characteristics of the system correspond to the declared ones .... Taking into account the fact that the L / 52 is "taught" to work as a "weapon for a platoon-battery", then the machine is very serious ....
