Helicopters in Russia - boiling cauldron of passion

54
I look at the paper statistics - the number of participants in the HeliRussia-2013 helicopter exhibition increases every year. And in the pavilions of Crocus Expo I do not believe my own eyes - it seems there used to be more. Moreover, this year, at first, he did not notice anything stunning and fantastic, such that the heart beats a little faster. But only at first.

Buy Sell

Even the MAI stand from the lively site itself shrank into a regular fair-sale. Probably, the statistics-2013 takes into account the sellers of bicycles (by the way, the electroweights are very good!), The merchants of magazines with a military-technical vein and each representative of the “Helicopters of Russia” separately. In fact, individual domestic manufacturers of components (there is a collapse of production cooperation - there is no one to cooperate with, and there is no need for that). I can explain - purely Russian helicopters could not be found. The Ka-226 and Ka-62 air rescue vehicle are French engines, the Ansat engines are American. Perhaps only the combat Mi-35 on the ground in front of the pavilion can boast of fully domestic stuffing.

The intrigue begins at the stand of the Ukrainian motor-building holding company Motor Sich JSC. On the background of dozens of foreign cars, the MSB-2 helicopter at the Motor Sich stand is a native one! It is evident that young, muscular.

Mi-2 - reincarnation

Native because SME-2 is based on Mi-2. Mi-2 was born in 1961 year, and in 1963-m design documentation and production license was transferred to fraternal Poland at the PZL Swidnik factory. So decided the Politburo. So he is not quite ours. For nearly three decades, the Poles have built 5 thousand 400 machines. And most of this "air army" is under the fence - low-powered voracious old engines and gearboxes have developed resources, no longer meet modern requirements. And the helicopter itself, its design is wonderful. At Motor Sich, we decided to correct the shortcomings and introduce elements of novelty. And immediately ran into a problem - it is impossible to get an addition to the certificate type. His certificate simply does not exist. Old helicopters of the Soviet period do not have them, they were introduced into production and operation by government decrees.

At the exhibition "Motor Sich" showed a full-scale model of the helicopter. Modern avionics, the so-called glass cockpit, comfortable cabin with the most modern seats, comfortable rear entrance for passengers, fuel tanks taken out of the cabin. New engines for 465 l. with. and gearbox. New materials. From the old "Milevskaya" machine while "there were rotor blades," says Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Boguslaev. Before coming to the final version, four different models were blown through the wind tunnel. The speed (up to 220 km / h) and range increased to almost a thousand km. Responsibility for safe operation, for the resource will be borne by Motor Sich. From the Mi-2 remained predictability, maneuverability, unpretentiousness. In the last three world helicopter sports championships, the first place was invariably occupied by Russian crews on the Mi-2. At first they are laughing at them, teasing them: “From which museum did they take this car?” And they lose outright.

To SME-2 people are drawn. Many flew the Mi-2 and looked at the spacious cockpit and comfortable pilot work area with interest. Some were jealous. I looked at the stand twice Sergey Igorevich Sikorsky, son of the great Russian aircraft designer, pilot and consultant to Sikorsky Aircraft.

New heart for the "eight"

Vyacheslav Boguslaev, President of Motor Sich JSC (Zaporizhia, Ukraine) created a sensation when he reported:
- Here, at the exhibition, “Russian Helicopters” themselves came and said: “We are ready to cooperate with you on the modernization of Mi-8T helicopters”. Before that, everything was from misunderstanding to unfair competition. Now, I am sure, Russian helicopters will get very good equipment. This is especially important for the regions of the Far North. It took two years to reach an agreement. Protocols were written, meetings were held, negotiations were conducted.
True, “Russian Helicopters” “corrected” a few days later and quickly wrote down a refutation that there are no specific agreements with Motor Sich, and the holding merely “is exploring the possibility of modernizing the Mi-8T fleet”. Apparently, they fear that they will fly for cooperation with the Ukrainian engine manufacturers.

Developers of the Soviet period have long since abandoned its design support, their eyes are fixed on the future, it is interesting for them to master funds for new, unknown technical masterpieces. And the operators were left without airworthiness. North of the country, the Far East are literally crying. What will happen to the main workhorse Mi-8T? Is it possible to send almost a thousand tightly tailored "Eight" scrapped? Motor Sich turned out to have its own view on the problem - they took and replaced the “good Perm 40 engine of the past year TV2” (as V. Boguslaev put it) with the 5 generation engine of the TV3В series (117Е series) and immediately received honored car 1% fuel economy. Do not forget - fuel consumption affects not only the range and carrying capacity, kerosene is 4% in the price of the ticket. As a result of the modernization, the flight time became cheaper, the resource grew by several times. It is estimated that the payback of such a re-engine 30 of the year, then the new engines work for profit. With a new heart, the old man Mi-41 easily sets records.

Helicopters in Russia - boiling cauldron of passion
Sergey Sikorsky and Vyacheslav Boguslaev

The MI-8T modernization program, initially skeptical by major airlines, suddenly began to take shape, especially after UTair CEO Andrei Martirosov got involved and caught its lack of alternative. A bold step, given the difficulties in the relationship of the Ukrainian manufacturer with Russian officials. Not for nothing did the Cossacks give presentations in Surgut and Tyumen - the head of UTair was convinced of the benefits of modernizing the helicopter pilots of the airline he headed.

Boguslayev always, at the earliest opportunity, explains his right to engage in the modernization of helicopters in international practice:
- A standard has been issued in Europe - if the developer refuses to upgrade the aircraft for the operator, the latter has the right to hire a competent executor to replace any major module. Ukraine has joined the standard. Now we have our own certified design bureau in Zaporizhia, production with ten years of experience.

Personnel for the future

The seventh year in Crimea, "Motor Sich" holds at its own expense the conference "Youth in aviation". This year, she changed her name to Youth Scientific and Technical Readings. A.F. Mozhaysky. He is led by the general designer, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, Genrikh Novozhilov and president of the International Association “Union of Aircraft Engine Building” (ASSAD) Victor Chuyko. It is fundamentally important that Russian young specialists also participate. Moscow was represented by the Salyut Scientific Research Center for Gas Turbine Engineering, the All-Russian Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), OAO Tupolev, NPO Nauka, VILS, MPP im. V.V. Chernysheva. " Perm - SPC "Iskra", "STAR", "Perm Motor Plant" and the National Research Polytechnic University. Samara - Aerospace University (SSAU named after SP Korolev) and Aircraft Bearings Plant. Ufa - Motor-Industrial Production Association (UMPO), Aggregate Production Association (UAPO) and State Aviation Technical University (USATU), St. Petersburg - Klimov OJSC. The Ukrainian representation, of course, is even wider.

Boguslaev smiles:
- Judging by the reports, everyone has already visited the Moon, circled Mars. But most importantly - they communicate. And in Milan at these events, our guys from KhAI do not even give a speech.

I can tell, Boguslaev joked about Mars and the Moon. Later, in the Crimea, I listened to several reports - all more than seriously and substantively.

Ukraine - a bet on light helicopters

Why boguslaeva this headache? The answer is demonstrated by the exhibits at HeliRussia-2013. The sector of opportunities is shrinking. The Ukrainian and Russian engine builders, including Klimov, were left behind a sector of medium-heavy helicopters — the Mi-8, the Mi-17, the Mi-26, and others. They are modernized and improved, but the novelty is no different. And the most popular today are light helicopters with a take-off weight of two to six tons. They occupy up to 80% of the global helicopter fleet. Here, domestic and Ukrainian helicopter engine manufacturers were out of the game. Mi-34, Mi ‑ 54 decided not to build. According to the Minister of Industry and Trade D. Manturova - no engines. Strange because in fact there are engines. For example, in Kazan at the engine-building plant (KMPO), the Zaporozhian team equipped and prepared the production of the MC-500 engine for the Ansat helicopter. Made a trial engine, says Boguslaev:

- The brigadier - Tatar, senior master - Tatar and Tatar Director - reported to the President of Tatarstan that we "returned the plant to the aviation industry" (for many years due to the lack of orders, KMPO is engaged in "land-based"). Moscow said no. I disassembled my equipment and took it to Zaporozhye. And KMPO remained at the gas pumping.

On the promising Ka-226, Ka-62, Mi-38, Ansat, they persistently, on command from above, install imported power units. Mi-38, however, promise this year to bring happiness to domestic TV7-117В and send it to the test.

It turns out that domestic and Ukrainian engine builders take away the market. Russian enterprises are in the same company with the same “Motor Sich” automatically - in the Ukrainian engines the Russian share is about 65% - science, materials, components. According to Boguslaev, our officials behave simply shamelessly:

- We were given a specification for the engines for the Ka-226. We engineered the engine, I spent my 18 million dollars. I don’t know exactly how much Ivchenko-Progress has invested in it. Then suddenly our partners in Russia were silent. And it turned out that Ka-226 already has engines Arriri (Arrius) of the French company Turbomeca (Turbomeca). And who should we contact? That holding is responsible for this, then some department. And the leader who was engaged in aviation yesterday is in command in the oil industry today. Our engine, of course, will not disappear, Western aircraft manufacturers are showing interest in it. But I get allergic when sociologists or linguists evaluate my engines. What are they entitled to? From someone's words, Russian industry leaders say that our engines are inferior to Western products. As this annoying confrontation has bothered nobody. I'm already tired of talking - our engines are the best. This is also because we do not depend on anyone, these are joint Russian-Ukrainian developments. In the 30-s of the last century, we flew French and German aircraft, bought engines abroad. But in parallel, created their own production, design. And there was a 1941 year.

What would become with the country, podsazhennoy on German and French aircraft, weapons, components? Complete defeat. A great power is obliged to be independent - today's desirable partners may turn into tough rivals tomorrow. We have already passed various embargoes on the supply of high-tech products. Soviet science and industry were able to get out - for example, they created their own gas pumping stations on the basis of aircraft engines for main pipelines.

Boguslaev will give a hundred points to “patriots” from the Russian departments:

- We must do everything that Russia was strong not in words but in deeds. Unfortunately, in Russia there is a very easy access to the state budget. There is no control, so they spend it out of control. And if this is so, then it is not at all necessary to methodically work on “dull-witted” and “silts. But Russia will not be strong if Boeing and Erbas are completely flying here - at one moment they will take and fly away. What can we do in a “difficult” situation, if the ban on American avionics for the Superjet or the French kits for “Rybinsk” SaM-146 engines happen? We are told that the French, for example, will give 80% of engine production to Russia. Tales for the poor! When it will be? No professional will believe it. It is necessary to make your own.

That is why Motor Sich decided to independently enter the niche of light helicopters and begin with a deep modernization of the Mi-2, and then, as they gained experience, build new cars of their own design. To do this, prepare personnel, patronize students of aviation specialties. The other day, we signed an agreement with the youth Russian design bureau, they are designing a single-engine helicopter. At the time of testing, Boguslaev gives them an engine (200 thousand dollars, by the way) with the words: “I will not be impoverished!” In the eyes of these guys, he saw fire and an obsession with action. Who knows, what if these are the future Kamovs and Miles?

Andes passed

Literally on the opening day of the exhibition, it became known that the Mi-17 Air Force of Peru flew over the Andes with a cargo. The height of the mountains in this place is 6 thousand. 300 meters. Helicopters flew in pairs, two Mi-17. The helicopter with the engines of the previous generation stopped at an altitude of 6 thousand meters and was forced to return. The second, with new Zaporozhye TV-3 117 SBM1В, passed over the mountains at an altitude above 7 thousand meters and completed the task. For Peruvian helicopter pilots, the event is significant - the country is divided into two parts by a mountain system. It takes a day to get around the mountains and get from one part of Peru to another.
By the way, in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as part of the Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopter, the engine successfully passed flight tests in Torzhok, Russia. Russian military pilots also showed outstanding results in height, climb, blocked the results, which were recorded by their Ukrainian colleagues in Konotop. It's nice that the Russian Ministry of Defense felt the need for new qualities in helicopters

Why don't we fly

Boguslaev essentially flies on the Yak-40:

- Arrived at Vnukovo-3 (used for VIP-charter and business aviation). Look, there is only one domestic aircraft - my Yak-40. The remaining thirty are imported. Fashion, apparently, such.

They explain to us that Soviet-built aircraft have high fuel consumption. And if you count? In Minsk, the repair of the Yak-40 together with the engines is worth 1 million dollars. You get a resource of 12 years and up to 40 passenger seats depending on the layout. "Yak" can fly from any more or less prepared site, from the ground. Instead, they bought 18-local Canadian aircraft for 6,5 million dollars for Kamchatka per piece! Plus a simulator for the same money. And in Russia there are on the ground 400 quite suitable Yak-40. Ukraine is the same picture: only four of the registered 44 fly. “Repair, rebuild, fly!” - calls Boguslaev.

He believes that the Yak-42, Tu-134, Tu-154 could be modernized, modern economical engines installed, avionics (the aircraft becomes a ton easier), new wiring is carried out - and forward. The aerodynamic quality of these cars is excellent - the Tu-154 flies at speeds up to 950 km / h, one can say record holder. The factories have everything to produce. But modernization is a hundred times less expensive compared to the projects of the “planes of the future.” Money, respectively, is small, there is nothing much to cut, so the kings of financial flows are not interested. Tu-334, whose fate hangs in the balance, still not built serially. V. Boguslaev, whose knowledge and experience should not be questioned, is sure - the best Tu-334 of everything that flies today:

- It is better than the SuperJet and An-148.

But the resistance from the ministry and the KLA is terrible. The Foundation "The people's plane Tu-334" tested it for yourself.
A vivid example of how “not necessary” showed and the recent congress of aircraft manufacturers. Member of the Public Council of the Chairman of the Military Industrial Commission under the Government of the Russian Federation, President - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aviation Engine CJSC Vladimir Klimov - Motor Sich, Colonel-General Anatoly Sitnov put it like this:

- From the podium there were people who practically understood nothing in aviation, and in the hall they were listened to by professionals who were not allowed to open their mouths. I expect that the degradation of Kamov will begin soon, they are being transferred to a new site with changes in the structure. The General Designer has already been removed on Mile - now it’s impossible to imagine the company's development strategy. But six modules were built for screwdriver assembly of Italian helicopters of the company AgustaWestland AW139. When they say that Stalin did the same - is nonsense. He bought licenses, objects and created production at his place, and did not collect what he would be allowed or given from abroad. Today, if our western partners block the oxygen to us, there will be neither Superjet, nor MC-21, nor wonderful helicopters with imported engines and avionics. All tightly rise.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin also clearly understands that this cannot continue. He instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and state corporations to develop measures that can enhance the status of general and chief designers. The first step is to create a Council of General Designers of Defense Enterprises at the Military Industrial Commission. And here there is a conflict with the apologists screwdriver assembly - all recently Minister-sociologist D. Manturov he was engaged only in the fact that he systematically survived and destroyed as a class of general designers in most famous aviation firms and appointed “effective” managers. The once mighty industry has been shattered into vague "centers of competence". Where now to recruit to the Council of actually acting general designers? Everything according to the precepts of E. Gaidar: we do not need the aircraft industry, “we will need to fly - we will buy the boeings”.
And while Motor Sich is taking real actions. Since Moscow disowns beautiful engines from Ukraine, the Cossacks decided that we would make the helicopters ourselves. You look, will save design school and for Russia.

Take my property!

Vyacheslav Boguslaev:

- I want to work with Russia. But now inflated history around intellectual property, to whom it will belong in engines of joint development. I answer - please take my drawings, I give up intellectual property, it does not give me anything as a manufacturer. Profit comes from joint programs. Sold the engine, there, let's say, 30% of my work, made a profit. Why do I need this intellectual property? I need a market.

Actually, no one has any questions to Boguslaev himself, to his honesty and decency. Russia has entered into an agreement with his company for billions of dollars. But no one will bet on it - the Ukrainian manufacturer -. Indeed, no one forgot the orange Sabbath, when the same Boguslaev almost sat down, and the general was removed from Antonov's design bureau. Now there is general manager orange Kiva. This, by the way, helps to answer the question: why no sane conversation is obtained with Antonov Design Bureau. And tomorrow in Ukraine, not Yushchenko will come to power, but superYushchenko: Tyagnibok or Klitschko? or ... then what?

Nice post. When I read the subject, it was precisely such thoughts that arose. That is why cooperation between Ukrainian and Russian manufacturers is blocked, due to the reasons listed in your post. In addition, it is a lever of pressure on Ukraine. Or Ukrainians will lose their aircraft industry, its aircraft industry is not needed at all in the EU, there are enough of them there (and the Russian aircraft industry will survive without Ukrainian components), or the Eurasian Union, and not some outside observer, but a full-fledged participant. Ukraine, decide!

All the relevant criticism is in the direction of past events in Ukraine, but as an orange, for example, they could affect the joint production in Kazan - to drop troops or something, but now Pratt & Whitney is on Ansant, but the Canadians can not affect the production. And remember how everyone here was proud of the Mi-34 records but bashfully silent about the engines.
Boguslaev always offered co-production in Russia that does not suit you ?????

Bullshit is bullshit. Do not want to cooperate with Ukraine - collect Italians.
If you don’t want to make navigators in cooperation with Ukraine, buy ready-made ones in the west.

Ukraine will not be left without orders. For example, yesterday Ukraine won a tender for the modernization of a helicopter fleet in Croatia. Russia smokes on the sidelines.

Domestic brands dominate in the structure of bus production in the Russian Federation: according to the results of 2012, their share increased by 2,6% and amounted to 76,6%.

Last year, Russian brands were characterized by a larger increase in production - 34,3%, compared to 16,7% of the increase in production of buses of foreign brands.
Half of all buses produced in 2012 in Russia, as well as in 2011, were produced by GAZ Group enterprises. Bus equipment is produced not only at the enterprises belonging to the Buses Division (PAZ LLC, LiAZ LLC, GolAZ OJSC, KAVZ LLC), but also at GAZ and Ural automobile plants.

Among these enterprises, the largest number of buses in 2012 was produced at GAZ AZ - 51% in the structure of bus production by GAZ Group, and also PAZ LLC - 38%.
The second place in terms of bus production in Russia belongs to the Sollers group, which produces UAZ buses in the Ulyanovsk region and Ford brands in the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2012, Sollers' share in the structure of bus production was 23,3%, decreasing by 2011% compared to 0,8.

Significant shares in the structure of bus production are held by companies specializing in the production of various modifications of buses based on foreign commercial vehicles - ST Nizhegorodets and PKF Luidor. Their shares in the total output of buses in 2012 were 12,3% and 6,2%, respectively.

I recently looked at the list of the largest enterprises in Ukraine, I report: the places were distributed as follows: one third of the total income of the largest domestic companies received in the mining and metallurgical sector. Retailers account for 10% of revenue, and agricultural sector - 7%.

Yes, by the way, there are three construction companies on the list, and even then specialists in civil engineering.

From the rostrum there were people who understood almost nothing in aviation, and in the hall they were listened to by professionals who were not allowed to open their mouths. I expect that the degradation of Kamov will begin soon, they will be transferred to a new site with structural changes.

Decorating the paid scum again here pushes its scrap metal, and you, believe and plus. All pancake. No "Motors-Sich" for us is any more domestic. Separate, so get out of here! The supply of Ukrainian engines for our Air Force should be stopped as soon as it becomes technically possible. Back in USSR or wherever you want, supply your engines there, and we will not endure dependence on the actually anti-Russian fascist regime. The process itself is already underway.

They again remembered the ruined Tu-334, which it couldn’t fly normally and had a certificate for transporting passengers from GDP to the airport building maximum. Nobody killed him. It’s just that it itself was archaic and defective already 20 years ago. But Sukhoi Design Bureau created a magnificent aircraft, which is already being built in a sufficiently large series and has a bunch of firm contracts about which the same Ukrainian An-148, which is not allowed into the civilized world, since there are no certificates, can only dream of.

And no modernization will cure the Tu-154, which had to be replaced with the Tu-204 back in the 80s. But the trouble is, when the Tu-204 appeared abroad for 10 years, the same machines flew. Modernization will not cure, neither gliders rotten from old age, nor an archaic control system, nor a flawed rear-engine layout that the whole world has already recognized as flawed (inconvenient to maintain, cars often land on their tail), and all passenger planes are now low-flying (except for the idiotic An-148) with engines under the wing. If the upgrade helped, we would still be driving some licensed Ford-T.

"and all passenger planes are now low-winged (except for the idiotic An-148) with under-wing engines."
It is noticeable that you have not even seen the planes that so shit.
An-148 and An-158 have an engine not above but over the wing. Thanks to what they can land and take off from any soil strips, even flooded with mud (therefore, these machines are in demand in the north).
Due to this arrangement, dirt does not enter the engines.
An-148 (the rights to which you bought) - this is yesterday. More advanced An-158s are now available.
An-158 has already been launched into serial production. The first car has already been handed over to the customer; another 2 cars will be handed over by the end of the year.

I'm afraid to break the template, but since last year the SSJ-100 has been produced at the rate of two cars a month, they will go out for a 10-day cycle by winter.
12 cars are Kiva’s fantasies, taking into account the production of the An-148 in Voronezh. An-158 was leased to Cuba under state guarantees of the Russian Federation, as containing more than 60 percent of Russian components. There are no other orders, unless there is a large Russian state order for the An-148 in Voronezh, the program will quietly die. And it doesn’t seem to be there, Voronezh guesses something like this therefore:
Voronezh Aircraft Plant intends to double production of aircraft kits for Sukhoi Superjet 100
Due to the introduction of a number of measures developed jointly with United Aircraft Corporation and Sukhoi Company, by the end of this year, the aircraft plant plans to double its production of aircraft kits for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 - up to four units per month.
As the general director of VASO OJSC Vitaliy Zubarev said at a workshop on the implementation of this project, the share of units manufactured by VASO for SSJ 100 is about 10% (in general, one aircraft set includes about 150 units).
“We are talking about parts, assemblies and mounted units made of polymer composite materials (PCM) produced at the plant. We participate in the SSJ 100 project on a contractual basis in close contact with factories in Novosibirsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. At a joint video meeting, a decision was made to revise the timing of the delivery of priority items to our consumers, ”he said.
According to the Director of Production of VASO OJSC Alexander Yarchevsky, basically the plan for the production of units from polymer composite materials (PCM) is completed on time.
“In a number of positions, we are even ahead of the plan. These are units of vertical and horizontal plumage, as well as units for the manufacture of fuselage compartments F-1 and F-5 at the production site of NAAPO (Novosibirsk), units for nodal assembly and final assembly of systems in the final assembly shop of KnAF CJSC GSS (Komsomolsk- on Amur), ”he said.
According to him, the increase in production volumes of aircraft kits was achieved thanks to a set of measures developed and implemented by the efforts of specialists of the Voronezh aircraft factory in conjunction with representatives of UAC and Sukhoi Company. This, above all, the mobilization of all resources - organizational, production, technological - can significantly improve the quality of cooperation, establish an uninterrupted supply schedule for units, and achieve coherence in the work of even distant plants.
So, if in June 2012 VASO produced about 1,5 aircraft sets for the SSJ 100 per month, then in February 2013 the company managed to reach the level of 2,5 aircraft sets per month. By the end of 2013, it is planned to reach 4 aircraft sets per month in the existing nomenclature, and by 2014 it is planned to achieve a figure of 5 aircraft sets per month for individual units.

In this situation, NATO itself will not withstand the temptation for a long time, you will fight on its territory. Missiles across Russia will be launched directly from the border. Yes, not in vain. But when the troops withdrew, it turned out that in vain.

Putin said in a conversation with the Russians on the air.

"Now about our relations with Ukraine ... I will allow disagreeing with you when you just said that if we were divided, we would not have won the war. We would have won anyway, because we are a country of victors."

In itself, what was said is stupid, but how it "helped" the pro-Russian political circles in Ukraine! Well, when you have verbal courage on the air, this will not occur, of course.

In 2008, "... some media reported about a closed meeting of the Russia-NATO council, at which Putin, according to these media, said that Ukraine is not even a state."

The way it is. Ukraine is just an anti-Russian entity, the purpose of which is to divide the Russian ethnic group and prevent it from gaining strength in the confrontation with the West.

If you don’t think to keep Ukraine as an ally, then no confrontation with the West is planned. They will sell Russia.
