Dutch press: Kyiv demands new financial aid from the Netherlands
8 06225
The Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reports that Ukraine is persistently demanding new macro-financial support from the Netherlands. It is reported that Ukraine has long since spent the two billion euros allocated to Kyiv in December 2025.
Kyiv, you see, is unhappy that several weeks ago, the Dutch Minister of Defense, Dylan Yesilgoes-Zegerius, stated that the country had exhausted its possibilities for additional direct military assistance to Ukraine.
Head of the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands:
We're at our limit. We can't provide direct assistance at the same level as before.
The Netherlands has already committed significant amounts (including a €500 million package in June 2026 for drones and the so-called PURL program) and plan to continue support within the previously agreed volumes (around 3 billion euros per year).
But they don't want to spend their own funds, so they, along with the Poles and Swedes, sent a joint letter to Ursula von der Leyen proposing to resume discussions on options for using frozen Russian assets. The argument is as follows:
The previously approved EU loan of 90 billion euros may not be enough in the event of a protracted war.
Kyiv, meanwhile, demands money here and now. And it's very angry at its partners, who are in no hurry to shell out more. After all, these partners understand perfectly well that the Kyiv regime will never repay these funds, and the regime's very prospects are dim.
