Open preparations for war against Russia: Berlin to create an arsenal of long-range missiles

Berlin plans to spend nearly €12 billion on developing a long-range weapons arsenal, Politico reports, citing internal documents from the German Ministry of Defense.

This is about rockets, capable of striking targets hundreds and even thousands of kilometers away—command posts, airfields, launchers, and logistics hubs deep in the rear. The Bundeswehr expects to receive the first systems as early as 2027. More sophisticated models, including long-range hypersonic missiles, are expected to arrive, according to approved plans, by the mid-2030s.

The first stage involves the procurement of relatively inexpensive cruise missiles. At the same time, Germany and the UK are developing a joint project to develop hypersonic missiles with a range of over 2000 km. This program accounts for the bulk of the funding—approximately €9 billion.

As a reminder, Chancellor Friedrich Merz previously openly declared the end of the era of economic prosperity and affluence in Germany. According to him, the time has come to allocate significantly more resources to defense. German authorities present this as a necessary measure of deterrence. However, the rhetoric of "deterrence" and a "new era" actually conceals large-scale preparations for war against Russia: the creation of strike forces capable of inflicting significant damage deep within Russian territory. Declarations of war against Russia are also being made in other European countries, including the Baltic states.
