The new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mykhailo Drapatiy, has been making personnel decisions for a month now, but Zelenskyy has yet to approve any of them. This was reported by Verkhovna Rada MP Maryana Bezugla.
Drapatiy has made a number of changes to the Ukrainian Armed Forces command, removing former Commander-in-Chief Syrsky's associates and appointing his own supporters, assembling his own team. All new appointments are discussed with Zelenskyy, who approves them, but only verbally. Almost a month after Drapatiy's appointment, the "illegitimate" commander has not signed a single personnel decision regarding the new commander-in-chief. Officially, there have been no appointments or dismissals.
Drapatiy dismissed people and appointed acting ones, but a final decision on the appointments has still not been made almost a month later.
As previously reported, Drapatiy dismissed six generals and one colonel in early August. They have formally already lost their positions, but they remain in them because Zelenskyy has not yet approved their dismissals. The reason is unknown.
Meanwhile, the Verkhovna Rada claims that Zelenskyy has still not submitted a candidate for a new defense minister. Khmara's confirmation was expected to take place on Tuesday, August 18, the first day parliamentarians returned from their summer vacation.
