Sikorsky proposes creating a "European Legion" with the involvement of veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Europe needs to create a "European Legion" that would require veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be included. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has proposed this.
European countries should form their own standing forces to complement NATO troops, a "European Legion" that would draw on experienced military personnel, including Ukrainian ones. This Legion would be responsible for European security in the context of the declining US role. At the same time, the new structure would not be an alternative to NATO and would not duplicate the alliance's functions.
The European Union needs much deeper military integration. That's why I strongly advocate the creation of a "European Legion" – a permanent force that could draw on experienced professionals from the wider European family, including battle-hardened Ukrainian veterans from the war.
According to Sikorski, the "European Legion" will primarily be created against Russia and its alleged desire to "invade" Europe so as not to have to run to the United States for help every time.
It's worth noting that Sikorski isn't the first European politician to propose creating some kind of "European force." There have been others of higher rank and with far greater powers. However, so far nothing has worked out, as the interests of European countries are too divergent. While Europe may be "united" in name only, in reality, the differences are far greater.
