Dedicated anti-ship missiles often have more aggressive profiles specifically designed to penetrate the defenses surrounding a ship. The Kh-101's standard warhead is a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing approximately 400 kg. This may not be sufficient to destroy a large ship (especially one with significant defenses). Although during the modernization process there were variants with a reinforced warhead (up to 800 kg), this was an adaptation to a specific task, and not the original concept.
