Forcing Ukraine to Peace: Not a Single Working Gas Station Left in Nikopol

In Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, after regular Russian shelling, not a single working gas station remains.

Local residents travel to Dnipropetrovsk or neighboring villages for gasoline, and some even switch to buses. No one plans to restore the damaged gas stations—the risk of further shelling is too great.

According to locals, the last gas station was destroyed in early July. One of Nikopol's central gas stations has been attacked 29 times since the conflict began. The last time it was hit was in June.

One local resident reported that 20 liters of gasoline costs him almost 4000 hryvnias (about 7200 rubles). According to locals, protective nets still don't protect against the Geraniums.

Alexander Melnichuk, BRSM-Nafta's Director of Network Development, explained that Nikopol currently lacks any major gas station network, making the fuel shortage truly acute. Mobile gas stations could be a solution. However, this requires resolving licensing and quality control issues to prevent counterfeit fuel from entering the market.

According to publicly available data, Russia has struck 55 gas stations in the Dnipropetrovsk region since June 2026—more than in any other region of Ukraine. In some cities, such as Trostyanets in Sumy Oblast, the situation is similar to Nikopol—they too have lost every functioning gas station.

Regular attacks on Ukrainian gas stations and fuel facilities have become particularly noticeable in recent months. They have become a completely natural response to Ukraine's massive attacks. drones Russian oil refineries, as well as gas stations in border areas, including Belgorod, are being targeted. In the Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions, gas stations are actively used to refuel military equipment. Nikopol is directly across the Dnieper River from Zaporizhzhia NPP and Energodar... And it is through Nikopol that two power lines (Ferrosplavnaya-1 and Dnieprovskaya) run from the Zaporizhzhia Hydroelectric Power Plant to our Zaporizhzhia NPP, through which Ukraine has been supplying electricity for the past few years to maintain the nuclear power plant's safety.

According to Ukrainian sources, Russian units (primarily advanced reconnaissance and assault teams) have approached the Slovyansk Thermal Power Plant in Mykolaivka. How deep is it? I've seen gas stations under construction, with no more than two meters of soil on top. Drones might not be able to penetrate it, but a single FAB could tear the entire station to shreds.

The SVO was initially launched for the sake of negotiations, not for the sake of victory. Negotiations took place just a few days after the start, and the top brass dreamed of reaching an agreement, not of winning.
