There are options. The Kh-50/Kh-SD itself was not designed as a dedicated anti-ship missile (ASM), but after integration onto the Su-34M, it can be used to strike surface targets—that is, as a long-range ASM. Why is this possible?
The Kh-50 has a stated range of approximately 1500 km. For the purpose of engaging surface targets (especially stationary or slow-moving ones, such as ships in port, at anchor, or large transport vessels), this range is indeed sufficient to ensure the carrier aircraft does not enter the active air defense zone of the ship. 
During the cruise phase, the missile uses an inertial system with GPS/GLONASS correction, and during the terminal phase, it uses an electro-optical digital correlation system (Otblesk). This allows it to "catch" a fairly large target with pronounced radar or optical contrast. 
Rumor has it that the upgraded Su-34Ms are indeed capable of using the Kh-50. This means the aircraft is technically ready for such a scenario. However, traditional anti-ship missiles (like the Kh-35U, which is also used on the Su-34) often have a more maritime-specific system: for example, an active radar homing head (ARHS), which is better at finding maneuverable targets in the open sea amidst clutter. The Kh-50 is more versatile in this regard—it's better suited for engaging stationary or poorly maneuvering surface targets. Against a ship that actively jams and maneuvers, the Kh-50 will be less effective than a specialized anti-ship missile. However, for strikes against targets in coastal areas, near piers, or in conditions where there is clear preliminary reconnaissance of the target, its capabilities are more fully realized.

Bottom line: after integration onto the Su-34M, the Kh-50/Kh-SD can perform the functions of a long-range anti-ship missile, but only in certain operational scenarios. This is not its primary specialization, and in certain situations, additional measures will be required (for example, more precise target reconnaissance or combined use with other weapons).

The Kh-59MK2 uses a combination of a strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS), satellite navigation (GLONASS/GPS), and an electro-optical homing head. The Kh-69 goes further: it adds a comprehensive radar altimeter and airspeed indicator, while final guidance is also provided by an electro-optical system (OE-M). This means the Kh-69 has a higher level of intelligence: it is better able to independently search for and recognize targets in challenging conditions. The Kh-69 is also capable of more active maneuvering in flight to evade air defense systems.
