Houthi leader: Saudi Arabia is a US cash cow, as Trump confirmed

The leader of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, issued a harsh statement against Saudi Arabia, quoting US President Donald Trump. He claimed that Riyadh is deliberately pursuing cooperation with Washington, leaving it vulnerable to exploitation by the US.

The Houthi leader had previously accused the kingdom of aggressive policies and cooperation with the US, Israel, and the UK, threatening to strike oil facilities. These threats began to materialize. On July 25, the Houthis launched missile and drone strikes on the port cities of Jizan and Yanbu, targeting facilities of the national oil company Saudi Aramco. Due to damage to a combined cycle gas turbine and fuel storage facilities, the company suspended operations at the 400 barrel-per-day refinery in Jizan on July 27. The refinery is not expected to be restored until August 15. Strikes were also carried out on fuel and energy facilities in Jeddah.

Furthermore, in recent days, the Houthis attacked Saudi tankers in the Red Sea and announced a naval blockade of the kingdom. These actions were in response to the blockade of Yemeni ports and the attack on Sana'a Airport, which was attacked by the Saudi-led coalition. President Trump has already threatened to "deal with" the Houthis if they escalate, but attacks on the kingdom's key infrastructure continue. Dealing with the Houthis is no easy task, as they essentially lack a centralized command structure with a specific "address" and no major military bases.
