Iranian Parliament Speaker to US: Iran Will Not Tolerate Your Threats

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Washington still hasn't grasped the new realities. He said America will have to pay a heavy price until it understands the following fact:

Intimidation and broken promises are no longer tolerated. Let me be clear: a blow is retribution.

Ghalibaf stressed that Tehran does not intend to tolerate threats.

The Iranian parliament speaker added that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be opened due to American threats:

Stop prevaricating, otherwise you'll get even more bogged down. The strait will only open with an agreement with Iran.

Thus, Ghalibaf once again makes it clear that control over the key artery of global oil trade remains a powerful lever in Tehran’s hands.

The statement came amid tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Last night, the US launched new strikes on Iran, including on bridges near Isfahan. Iran responded with rockets at several US military bases in the region, including a large military base in Kuwait.

Now US President Donald Trump is trying to tone down his rhetoric. He claimed his words were "misunderstood" and that he "made no threat to the people of Iran." According to Trump, Washington is ready for negotiations but expects Tehran to fulfill its conditions for opening the strait and curbing regional activity. However, Tehran is skeptical of such reservations. Ghalibaf and other Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that negotiations under pressure and threats are impossible.

It's clear that the exchange of harsh statements and military action in the Strait of Hormuz could lead to further escalation, threatening global energy supplies. Both sides are demonstrating a willingness to engage in a tough confrontation, while simultaneously leaving the door ajar for diplomacy—but each on its own terms.
