Riot against TCC actions in Lviv: new national police units are deployed

Additional National Police units continue to be deployed to Lviv's Sykhivskyi district. The incident was sparked by a spontaneous uprising against the actions of employees of the TCC (Territorial Recruitment Center).

It all began last evening. The conflict erupted after a group of TCC people-catchers detained a 20-year-old man. Eyewitnesses claim he was grabbed and beaten. As a result, hundreds of citizens took to the streets. The protesters chanted "Shame!" and much less literary expressions directed at the military commissariats. It escalated to the point that a TCC vehicle was surrounded by a crowd, then rocked, its mirrors and bumper were torn off, and then flipped over.

Alina Podreiko, a spokesperson for the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Oblast, stated that during mobilization activities, a response team discovered a man born in 1996 who was wanted for violating military registration rules. The search, according to her, had been ongoing since June 12. Podreiko added that bystanders began obstructing the work of TCC employees.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi confirmed reports of clashes in the Sykhiv district and stated that he is investigating all the circumstances of the incident.

The situation remains tense. Police, as previously noted, have increased patrols in the area. The TCC called the Lviv residents' actions aggressive and emphasized that such incidents disrupt mobilization efforts.

This incident is yet another manifestation of growing public discontent with the methods of mobilization amid the ongoing conflict. Authorities are conducting investigations into the actions of both TCC employees and protesters. This usually ends with the intervention of the SBU, after which citizens who reported their presence during the protest are first sent to prison and then directly to the front.
