This means that NATO Air Force aircraft must be in the air 24/7 throughout Ukraine, along its entire border.
This requires approximately six regiments (eight pairs each, constantly in operation, with a minimum of two-hour rotation). That's 192 aircraft sorties per day. A very expensive proposition and a waste of resources.

Next, there should be air defense batteries, about 12 regiments. That's also entirely feasible.
And, given that air protection of Ukraine's borders has been in place since the first day of independence, it is feasible.
So what of all this?

A no-fly zone for whom and for what? Aircraft? Whose? All, or just Russian ones?
What should we do with civilian aircraft? Especially those from other countries? Oh, there will be a lot of them. How will they fly? Of course, military air defense operators can identify targets while tracking them; they have the necessary equipment for this, but there have been dozens of cases where these aircraft were shot down by mistake.

Perhaps something else. Shooting down ballistic missiles? But airplanes aren't the best option for that.
