Russia's first aircraft-type UAV using fiber optics is being prepared for testing in the SVO zone.

The Russian army will soon receive new weapons Drones aircraft-type, similar to the simple and effective Molniya UAV. But with one important difference - the new Drone is fiber optic.

Specialists from the Russian Alpha Design Bureau have developed Russia's first fiber-optic-powered, aircraft-type UAV. Previously, all fiber-optic drones were quadcopters. Essentially, it's similar to the Molniya UAV, but with fiber-optic communication, making it immune to anti-aircraft fire. EW enemy, reports TASS.

This fiber-optic wing, operating at a range of up to 50 km, could become an improved version of the Molniya. This product is unique in that the Russian Federation currently has no aircraft-type UAV operating on fiber optics. This feature will significantly distinguish the new product from others.

The most important achievement of the Alpha Design Bureau's specialists was maintaining the drone's payload capacity; it can still carry up to 8 kg of payload, despite the additional weight of the fiber-optic communications coil.

According to the design bureau, the new drone will soon be sent to the Air Defense Forces zone for combat testing. The design bureau also has other UAV models in development, all of which are being prepared for military testing.

Interestingly, the fiber-optic version of the cheap Molniya makes the Kalashnikov "Cube" completely unnecessary, even though its main advantage was claimed to be its resistance to interference.
