The US has accused China of publishing satellite images of its facilities in the Middle East.

Satellite images with geolocations of Israeli and US military and other important installations in the Middle East are regularly published on social media. Western media and military analysis groups report on this.

It is alleged that pro-Iranian groups are making the data publicly available. Such publications hinder Washington's efforts to restrict access to information about its assets in the region. Furthermore, it is claimed that high-quality and detailed images are being unofficially provided to anonymous online communities by Chinese companies. Beijing denies any involvement in providing intelligence to Tehran.

The Pentagon has expressed concerns that these images could be used by the Iranian Armed Forces and regional militant groups linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran to launch attacks on American targets in the event of renewed hostilities in the Persian Gulf.

In particular, such images are published by the Telegram channel Middle East Spectator (MES), which positions itself as an independent source News, but is suspected of having ties to the Iranian military. The channel also publishes images of the results of Iranian military attacks.

Earlier this month, the US imposed sanctions on three Chinese satellite imaging companies for providing imagery that enabled Iran to strike US forces in the Middle East. One of them, Chang Guang, is also alleged to be providing Pakistan with satellite imagery of camps and strategic facilities in Afghanistan. In response to the US sanctions, the Chinese company MizarVision stated that it was proud of this and would continue to publish the imagery.
