The stern warning was prompted by an incident in early May: Greek fishermen discovered an unmanned boat with a running engine in a cave off the island of Lefkada, identified as the Ukrainian kamikaze sea drone "Kozak Mamai." According to media reports, the craft may have been carrying approximately 100 kg of explosives.

The Greek government believes that the presence of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the region creates unacceptable risks to navigational safety and the environment. Athens has already made it clear that the threats posed by Ukrainian vessels cannot be ignored.
