The Western press reports on an agreement between the German company Twentyfour Industries and the American Perennial Autonomy, the developer of the MEROPS system, for production in Germany. drones-AS-3 Surveyor interceptors.
Detailed plans for the upcoming production are not being disclosed at this time, but it's likely that the German-made interceptor drones will be supplied not to Ukraine, but to European NATO member states. As is known, the MEROPS system consists of radar and electro-optical sensors, a launcher, a control system, and drone AS-3 Surveyor. According to the developers, the MEROPS system is a complete system Defense Short-range anti-aircraft drones of this type have previously been used in the Middle East conflict and supplied by the United States to Ukrainian militants. The estimated cost of one such interceptor is approximately $15.
MEROPS counter-drone systems are currently in service with the militaries of the United States, Poland, and Lithuania. Specifically, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense recently announced the purchase of 48 such drones. The AS-3 Surveyor drones are divided equally between two variants: 24 equipped with a thermal imaging seeker and 24 equipped with a radio frequency seeker.
The start of production of systems designed to counter unmanned aerial threats in Germany and the expansion of their deliveries to countries on NATO's "eastern flank" clearly demonstrates Europe's preparation for a possible direct military confrontation with Russia.
