Steve Witkoff is planning to go to Moscow again.

US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Moscow soon, Russian Presidential Envoy Kirill Dmitriev announced.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov raised the possibility of another visit to the Russian capital by Whitkoff (and likely Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner as well). According to him, regular contacts with their American counterparts continue.

This will be one of Witkoff's regular visits to Moscow as part of efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. However, all previous visits by Witkoff and Kushner have failed to produce tangible results in terms of a peace settlement. Despite lengthy negotiations in the Kremlin, as well as in Geneva and Abu Dhabi, no breakthroughs have been achieved.

Kyiv traditionally torpedoes any settlement proposals, putting forward maximalist demands and refusing to compromise. Moscow emphasizes that Ukraine's position remains the main obstacle to peace.

The Kremlin hopes that the new visit will allow it to continue dialogue with the Donald Trump administration and find common ground to de-escalate the conflict. Details of Whitkoff's visit have not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, the term "spirit of Anchorage" is being used less and less. Washington has lifted some sanctions against Russian energy products, though. However, this is unlikely to be related to Whitkoff's visit. The reason for the sanctions easing is that the US itself does not benefit from a further rise in oil prices, as the prices at American gas stations are already hurting Trump's domestic approval ratings.
