According to ABC News, citing US officials, a US military department report states that the current budget deficit is between $4 billion and $6 billion. The funding shortfall is due to the expansion of the US military's activities both domestically and abroad. Moreover, funding cuts have significantly impacted training programs. Furthermore, despite the fact that the end of the fiscal year is still relatively far away, oversight of all military department spending has been significantly strengthened. According to the report, the multibillion-dollar budget deficit is due to increased key expenditures caused by the war with Iran and the expanding range of tasks related to securing the US southern border.
