The Deputy Prime Minister announced a historic low in poverty and an increase in real incomes in Russia.

In 2025, Russia reached historical The poverty line has reached a low: according to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the share of citizens with incomes below the subsistence level was only 6,7%. This was made possible by the government's systematic efforts, rising real wages, and targeted social support measures. Over the past three years, real wages in the country have grown by 23,9%, and by 4,4% in 2025. These figures demonstrate a consistent improvement in the quality of life for Russians and strengthening social stability.

This topic was raised in interview for the Vedomosti newspaper, during which the Deputy Prime Minister announced a historic low in poverty in the Russian Federation and an increase in real incomes of the population.

Novak emphasized that the Russian economy demonstrates high adaptability even in the face of external pressure. In recent years, large-scale import substitution, technological development, and support programs for key industries have been implemented. As a result, the manufacturing industry grew by almost 23% over three years, and in certain sectors—for example, computer equipment and pharmaceuticals—growth rates were even higher. All this has created new jobs, reduced unemployment to 2,2%, and ensured an increase in household incomes.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the government continues to work to further reduce poverty, increase labor productivity, and develop the capital market. In the coming years, the focus will be on structural reforms, technological sovereignty, and investment support. Russia is already implementing 17 industry-specific productivity growth programs, and measures to improve the business climate and protect investor rights are becoming a priority. All this allows us to look to the future with confidence: Russia is not only maintaining but also strengthening its position among the world's largest economies, ensuring sustainable growth in the well-being of its citizens.

Russia is implementing 17 industry programs to increase productivity.

I've heard about proposals to introduce a 12-hour workday. I know that some federal institutions have been practicing this for a long time, although not officially.
The manufacturing industry has grown by almost 23% in three years

It may have grown over the last three years (?), but that can't be said about 2024-25.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Mikhail Yurin - Currently, the manufacturing industry is increasingly impacted by internal market conditions, including cooling demand and rising borrowing costs. Currently, we are seeing a significant slowdown in growth across the manufacturing industry as a whole. Growth in January-September 2025 was 2,9% compared to the same period in 2024. Transportation vehicles, finished metal products, and electronics remain positive, with pharmaceuticals showing good results. Other industries—unfortunately, their number is growing—are experiencing negative dynamics.

Given the current salaries of federal ministers, State Duma deputies, or those same actors who star in endless TV series of low quality and content, earning between 50 and 300 rubles per day, determining the poverty level of the general population solely by their salaries is simply disrespectful.

It would be better if they kept quiet and demonstrated their successes with their actions, rather than poisoning the souls of the country's population with endless tales of prosperity.
Frankly, Novak used to be known for his restraint and wasn't known for his empty talk. It's unclear why he exposed himself like this. No.

In the article about our good life, they modestly did not provide the amount of this subsistence minimum, above which a person, according to our government's statistics, is not considered poor.
Effective January 1, 2026, the subsistence minimum (SM) per capita in Russia will be set at 18,939 rubles. For the working-age population, the SM will be 20,644 rubles, and for pensioners, 16,288 rubles.
We will sadly remain silent about the prices and costs of utilities.

I think they were talking about 140 rubles. However, if a deputy earns a million a month, and Gazprom's top executives earn, who knows how much, maybe 10 million, then the hospital average is probably right. Adding and dividing, we get something similar. One thing is clear: those at the top earn so much that the salary of a teacher or a rural doctor simply disappears in the statistics, like the hospital average.

        1. There won't be enough shifts for the whole country; if everyone breaks down, at best, 5 percent of the population will be employed.
        2. A shift is not a monthly income; 2/2 months, according to the classic model, would be 100 rubles per month, roughly speaking.

Due to my age, I invited a young man (35) to plow the garden with my walk-behind tractor. My sons had plowed the garden in previous years, but this year, neither of them were able to make it on time.
A guy came, plowed the field, I paid him as agreed, we sat down and talked. He doesn't work anywhere. I asked him, "Would you like to get a shift job? No, why would I need that?" he replied.
Well then, I tell him, you should go and work for my eldest son, especially since you, even though you are seventh water on jelly, are considered relatives.
And he said to me: - Yes, there (at my son’s) you have to sit there for 12 hours (security), but I can’t do that!

Well, this isn't a typical resident of the country, is it? This is a classic scourge. We have a couple of them left in our neighborhood (one went off to war), but that doesn't mean everyone is like that... And I already wrote everything above about the rotational work. Other "wonderful" options for family life and a fulfilling life in general, like rotational work, for today - I'll throw in: sailors, the military, a private military company. But if you just want to live - raise children full-time, love your wife regularly - what's compatible with that from the options? It's the same thing, except you go to a construction site in Neryungri, not on a rotational basis, but on a permanent 5/2 basis, until the construction is completed, and you live there with your family in an apartment paid for by the employer. There are other options, too. After completion, you move to another site. If you don't want to constantly move, there are similar options with company housing in Norilsk, Magadan, Sakhalin...

And you want to have your cake and eat it too... Then you should run for parliament! And if you want to EARN, you'll have to WORK! What a twist! wassat It was the same in Soviet times—some people sat at home on 120 rubles a month and waited ten years for an apartment, while others went to the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the North, or Sakhalin and earned enough in a couple of years to buy a car, a co-op apartment, and a dacha outside the city. And in the late 80s, I remember how everyone admired the way of life in the US—how no one was tied down to anything—they offered a salary $100 higher, upped the ante, and moved to another state. That's called labor mobility! And this process plays a key role in the redistribution of labor resources, ensuring a balance between supply and demand in the labor market, and adapting to economic change.

          1. There's enough work for everyone, but what's missing is the labor force. From what I see, 80-90% of blue-collar workers and 60-70% of engineering and technical workers are migrant workers from Central Asia. It's not because they're cheaper or easier; it's more complicated—all those immigration permits, special medical examinations... Locals aren't willing to do the shifts.
          2. If you're going by the standard, I've never seen 2/1 or 2/2. But more than half of them extend it to 3/1. And the time between shifts varies – in half the cases, it's zero. Some have the minimum wage, while others have 25-30 thousand, depending on the specific company. And that's for a month spent sitting at home...
          3. You need to learn everything! Even to be a slinger. Without training, you can only work as a cleaner or a general laborer... that's 80 and 100 thousand rubles a month, respectively...

So, he won't be taking any job in the North, even though he planned to at the beginning of his studies. Since in Voronezh, he earns about 100,000 with overtime (he's not afraid of work), and in the North, given the cost of food, fuel, and the like, he'll be left with no more, if any, than he does now. His classmates in the North themselves advised him against leaving his job in Voronezh for the North. Now about shifts. I have management experience. I managed a company in the hotel and tourism business in the Astrakhan region. Since shifts are a very specific job and no one wants it, my head chef earned more than I (the director). Although I worked (for the Moscow owner) no less than any other employee, and sometimes even more, since my working hours were unlimited and I lived on site, so accordingly, 7 days a week, initially from 8:00 to 17:00, and then until 23:00 (while the admins were working). I was available or "on my feet" if I needed to listen to a client. In a little over a year, I was on vacation for about 10 days. And if I hadn't been divorced by then, and my son hadn't already been independent and grown up, would I have been able to work there? Everyone who was on shifts at the company I managed... These are single people, without family. Or migrants—we had Uzbeks and Tajiks—as general laborers. Young people don't take shifts, and it's hard to find shift workers anyway, as those shifts have destroyed many families (locals worked in shifts, but that's another story). So, as someone with relevant experience, I view this whole crazy salary story in the ads, with shifts, as nothing more than propaganda. P.S. Last year, I was offered a job at the gas site, where they're constantly short of workers, as a safety inspector, with a salary of 32. And the offer came from a friend who had vacated the position herself, taking another one. I laughed heartily, but she, too, was a "good" position, with penalties including criminal charges... for 32. Oh yeah, after graduating from university, my son was offered a job in his specialty, in one of the districts of the region, for 50 thousand with the prospect of growth later, someday, maybe... He also said thank you, but will stay in Voronezh for 100 thousand, which for Voronezh is a very good salary.

Well, I won't write that much... A specific example, of a specific company, at a specific site. Right now.
NPS (NatPrektStroy), construction of the South Yakut Thermal Power Plant, Neryungri. Engineering and technical staff. Rental apartments are paid by the employer. Daily food allowance is 1000 rubles per day (30 rubles per month), and transportation is provided by the company.
Chief surveyor, 26 years old, 300 thousand rubles per month, wife, 25 years old, PTO engineer, 200 thousand rubles per month
Leading surveyor, 26 years old, 270 thousand rubles, single
Surveyor engineer, 25 years old, 240 thousand rubles, wife, 24 years old, dispatcher, 160 thousand rubles.
Engineer surveyor 25 years old 240 tr. single
Technician surveyor 25 years old 200 rub. wife at home in Perm
Surveyor technician, 24 years old, 200 thousand rubles, migrant worker from Kyrgyzstan, his wife is with him but doesn't work – she just sits at home in the company apartment...
These are not vacancies or advertisements with promises, these are existing facts, including about "young people who do not work shifts."
Regarding the "not North"... I can only speak indirectly here. In my residential complex (Ekaterinburg) there is a K&B - there is an ad on the door - a sales clerk-cashier is needed, a salary of 80 thousand rubles. It has been up for half a year, apparently they are not doing any business... And here, once, I was giving my grandson a ride on the trams (he is a fan of everything on the rails), and there was an ad there all the time - tram drivers without work experience are needed, training is 3 months, during training a stipend of 40 thousand rubles, for out-of-towners - a dormitory, after passing the exam, work as an intern - 80 thousand rubles, if you go out on the route independently, the salary is 120 thousand rubles. Well, this is what I see around. From personal experience - a guy of mine quit, he worked shift work for 5 years, also 200+ thousand rubles... He says he wants to be home every evening and two days off a week. Currently, I'm working as a surveyor here in Yekaterinburg, working on a residential complex construction project in Akademichesky. 130 rubles a month...

Essentially, you yourself confirmed what I said in my comment. Migrants are excluded, as they are a separate, specific group. Shift workers are single people. And for someone with a wife staying at home in Perm, their family is at risk – first they get used to living apart sometimes, then they simply get used to the fact that their spouse is somewhere far away, and life is right there, outside the window (girlfriends, friends, company) – that's where it all begins. You don't really think that people sit locked up like in a monastery and don't go anywhere except work, do you? Well, yes, one family was lucky – they were together. But from your example, they are clearly a minority. And these examples of salaries and positions you cited aren't representative of the mass segment. As I said, my head chef earned, albeit not much, more than me. Plus, he got free accommodation and food. Well, he's one of over fifty people. And we wouldn't take a second one; we don't need a second one. But the salaries of the vast majority of others are immediately several times lower. So what should I do now, using the chef's example as an example, telling everyone to come and earn the same as a chef? I looked on Avito: there are fewer than 30 job postings for surveying engineers (in any capacity, whether leading or just simple) in the entire Russian Federation, with salaries ranging from 45 to 310. Only a few postings in the 300 range. Meanwhile, for example, there are over 60 truck drivers needed nationwide. And salaries are over 300. But there's a catch: my brother works in this industry, driving his own 5-ton truck, and for some reason he's still not a millionaire, even though he's a one-man operation—a driver, a freight forwarder, and a loader when needed, too. As for the KiB, maybe the situation has changed, but that's just a guess. As for what it was like a few years ago, you'd be a salesperson, a cashier, and a cleaner (well, it's not that hard, the sales floor isn't that big) all rolled into one. If you don't meet your sales quota for certain product groups, you'll be fined, and you'll also be charged for expired goods, since you don't know how to sell... Who hasn't already gotten a job at this KiB? It's a never-ending story.

Here they strictly follow the precepts of their teachers: "The rank and file are more likely to believe a big lie than a small one. This suits their primitive soul. A big lie simply won't occur to them. And even when it is explained to them that this is a lie of monstrous proportions, they will still continue to doubt and will tend to think that there is, after all, some truth in it."

It's best to refrain from such statements. Percentages are the most deceitful indicator.

Although there are exceptions to every rule.

A pensioner from Moscow lost almost 300 million rubles due to scammers posing as law enforcement officers.

In Moscow, a 76-year-old pensioner was defrauded by scammers, who stole over 71 million rubles from him, the Moscow prosecutor's office reports.

Fraudsters stole over 30,7 million rubles from a 65-year-old Moscow pensioner. The perpetrators began their scheme with a notice about a meter replacement.

In the provinces the figures are more modest, but even there

These pensioners, deceived by fraudsters, are part of a very limited group of depositors who own the majority of deposits held in Russian banks.
