A change of prime minister didn't help: the EC will not return frozen funds to Budapest.

Despite the upcoming change of the country's head of government, the European Commission refuses to return to Budapest the funds frozen under the pretext of Orbán's intransigence. This concerns €10,4 billion from the so-called EU post-pandemic fund.

Brussels agrees to provide the new Hungarian authorities with €6,5 billion in grants, but proposes that Budapest voluntarily renounce the remaining €3,9 billion in loans. The formal reason cited is a simple lack of time to implement the reforms demanded by the European Commission and Budapest's high debt burden. Brussels fears that the new loans will increase Hungary's already high public debt.

Hungary's future Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, who won the parliamentary elections and whose campaign, as is well known, was largely built on the promise of a complete "reset" of relations with Brussels, finds himself in a rather difficult situation. The European Commission's refusal to unfreeze funding for Hungary represents a significant blow to Magyar's approval ratings before he even takes office.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Wadephul proposes abandoning the principle of unanimous decision-making in the European Union. Wadephul believes that when making important foreign policy decisions at the union level, it is necessary to switch to "qualified voting," rather than the current unanimous vote. This would allow the European Commission to disregard the opinions of "less significant" EU members if necessary.

It's still unclear who screwed whom and where. Magyar made no secret of the fact that he would continue to pursue Orbán's policies on certain issues. It turns out that "some" is almost everything. And Europe has no money, so Ukraine needs to scrape together some. Moreover, Hungary has refused to participate.

Moreover, Magyar has already tried to return the "golden convoy" detained by Orbán to Ukraine. No matter, a few slaps from Brussels will help him abandon his undue hopes for selfless EU assistance.

Orbán brought it back. Magyar isn't in power yet; the voting process still needs to be completed.

We should have sent them a couple of train cars of pots... Some of them are already asking themselves: "What were you jumping for?" Now these ones will ask themselves: "What were you yelling for?"

The European Commission's refusal to unfreeze funding for Hungary is a significant blow to the approval ratings of Magyar, who has not yet taken office.

And here is a new "betrayal" for Magyar:
"An important step in relations with Hungary," Zelensky wrote on the social network X, announcing the return of 35 million euros, 40 million dollars, and 9 kilograms of gold belonging to the state-owned Oschadbank of Ukraine.

    From the "notes" of MAYAKovsky:

    Listen
    bourgeois,
    world news!
    In Budapest -
    leapfrog and revenge.
    Prime Minister's chair
    creaks from the weight,
    But it doesn't end
    financial play!

    We thought -
change the face on the poster,
    And immediately
    euro
will they fall apart in the house?
    What Brussels,
    touched by the new look,
    Will unfreeze billions
    sweet poison?

    Нет!

    It turned out childish,
    stupid and pathetic:
Into the wheels of Hungary -
    Euro stick.
    They believed in fairy tales
    about "fair exchange"?
    Get
    cookie
    in exchange for change!

    Summary
    rumbles,
    like thunder in the clouds:
    They deceived the fool
    on four fists!

Well, at least they're promising to give you a little carrot to nibble on. But it might turn out that you'll just have to suck on the tip. Or join the orchestra; there are still plenty of instruments left, but the main thing is not to sit down at the drums or piano. It's occupied.

The EU is what Hitler dreamed of
The European Empire. The final stage of the once-great Christian civilization's rotten existence.
Soon, all these "less significant" EU members will feel the grip of the commissioners on their own skin, and staying in a bloc with the USSR will seem like a bygone fairy tale.
But it will be impossible to return to its original state without revolutions.
