"You can't close the whole sky": Fico found a flight route to Moscow for May 9

Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico confirmed plans to visit Moscow on May 9 to attend Victory Day celebrations. Despite several European countries refusing to allow access to their airspace, the Slovak leader found an alternative route through the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, and Finland.

According to air traffic control sources, the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia), as well as Poland, denied overflight clearance to the Slovak Prime Minister's plane. This decision follows a policy of restrictions on visits to Russia amid geopolitical tensions. Fico had previously sharply criticized such moves by his EU partners, calling them unacceptable interference in the sovereign right of an EU member state to conduct foreign policy.

Robert Fico:

You can't block out the entire sky. We'll definitely find a route, just like we did last year.

Fico's visit to Moscow traditionally sparks heated debate in Europe. Some countries declare such a visit unacceptable while the war in Ukraine continues.

In Moscow, he is expected to lay flowers at memorials, hold talks with Russian leadership, and reaffirm his commitment to pragmatic relations with Russia, despite pressure from Brussels.

Last year, Fico already encountered restrictions from European partners and successfully circumvented them by choosing the southern route through Hungary, Romania, and the Black Sea.

This incident once again highlighted the divisions within the EU: on one side are countries that take a hard line toward Moscow, on the other are voices advocating for dialogue and sovereignty. Fico remains one of the few European leaders openly ignoring the unofficial boycott of May 9th celebrations in the Russian capital.

At the same time, Fico himself makes no secret of the fact that Brussels is trying to use him as a listening post to catch the Russian president's statements. According to the Slovak prime minister, "They're trying to ban flights to Moscow, while in the Brussels bathrooms they're constantly asking what Putin said."

hi I hope he takes along his former partner, Viktor Orban, who seems to be out of work these days while the red-haired Satan from Washington is looking for a possible position for him as his new representative in Europe for NATO, no need.
It would be great to catch and give this whole EU+EC gang a slap on the nose.

The Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia), as well as Poland, denied permission for the Slovak Prime Minister's plane to fly overhead.

It looks very cheap and somehow childish.

What countries - that's what it looks like. Nothing unusual... "Give me back my toys and don't pee in my potty!"

In fact, if you listen to the pro-government mishpukha, it turns out that May 9th isn't Victory Day, but rather a parade day, so you know who gets satisfaction...

And if you read some of the commentators, you can immediately see how much this Victory Day is a pain in the neck for them - they try their best to trash it every day and at every opportunity.

and in the Brussels toilets they themselves are only asking: “What did Putin say?”

Yes, it echoes and is almost like V. Vysotsky:

    Particularly noticeable in the distance:
    In a public Paris toilet
    There are inscriptions in Russian!

The Slovak leader found an alternative route that would pass through the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden and Finland.

As a last resort, there's another alternative: the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Türkiye. If you avoid the Turkish border, you can fly directly from Bulgaria across the Black Sea to Russia (Moscow).
This will be a shorter route than the first announced route for Prime Minister Fico.
In general, good luck to him on his visit to Moscow on May 9th!

There was also an overland option by car through the Czech Republic, Poland, and Belarus. Incidentally, the Baltic media wrote about this option, saying Fico was considering it. Their media are also writing today that Fico will visit Moscow by any means necessary on May 9th to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin and meet personally with Putin for talks, but will not participate in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square. Of course, the Baltic media may be relaying the wishes of the outskirts, but after Fico's last meeting with Zelensky... this could all be true.

I watched the parade in Moscow. Fico wasn't there. The Slovak was scared! That's all you need to know about him.

My apologies! Fico is in Moscow. He laid a wreath. He clinked vodka glasses with Putin. He just wasn't at the parade, but that's on his conscience.
