Militants have seized Africa's Alcatraz and are attempting to blockade Mali's capital.

The al-Qaeda-linked JNIM group carried out this series of attacks as it continued its advance toward Mali's capital, Bamako. Reports are emerging that terrorists stormed the Kenyeroba Central Prison and set fire to food trucks heading to Bamako.

Kenyeroba, a newly built complex located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Bamako, is known as the "Alcatraz of Africa." According to sources, the prison held 2500 prisoners, including at least 70 high-risk criminals and JNIM militants captured after major offensives in April. Malian forces are reportedly attempting to retake the area, including using force. Aviation.

Simultaneously with the prison attack, the militants targeted transportation infrastructure, underscoring their intention to impose a complete blockade on the capital.
