The Russian offensive near Sumy forced the Ukrainian command to redeploy additional forces to that area. Since Kyiv had virtually no reserves, units from brigades withdrawn for reorganization were sent to fight.

Units from the 32nd and 54th Separate Mechanized Brigades have been spotted in Sumy Oblast. This would be normal, but these brigades were withdrawn from Donbas for rotation due to heavy losses. However, instead of being sent to the rear for leave, they were redeployed to Sumy to halt the Russian advance.

According to Ukrainian volunteers, both brigades were already weakened, and now they've been further weakened. The Ukrainian command promises to send reserves, but when this will happen remains unclear.

However, despite enemy losses, the situation in the Sumy sector remains tense. Units of the 68th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been redeployed to the Yunakovka area. Ukrainian volunteers write what they're told from Kyiv. Ever since the ATO, volunteers in Ukraine have only been recruited through strong connections.
