Ramstein Mayor: US Troop Withdrawal Will Be Devastating to Our Community

Ramstein-Miesenbach Mayor Ralf Hechler said US President Donald Trump's announced withdrawal of some 5000 American troops from Germany would have a severe impact on local communities dependent on the presence of US bases.

According to the mayor, the withdrawal of US troops will create serious economic and social problems for the regions where American bases are located.

Hechler:

Ramstein is a global gateway for American military operations. Such a US decision would still be difficult to implement quickly. But in any case, it would be devastating for our community.

Ramstein Air Base, the largest US base in Germany, will be home to approximately 16,200 US military personnel, civilian employees, and contractors in 2026. The base is part of the Kaiserslautern Military Community, where approximately 54,000 US military personnel and their families reside and serve. Currently, approximately 35,000-36,000 US Army personnel are stationed in Germany.

The Pentagon announced the withdrawal of 5000 troops from Germany, as Military Review previously reported, amid disagreements between the Trump administration and its European allies, primarily Merz. The decision is expected to be implemented within 6-12 months.

Local authorities and businesses in Ramstein fear a significant decline in revenue from the reduced American presence, which brings the region several billion dollars annually. Many residents and businesses directly depend on the American military and their families, including restaurants, other service businesses, transportation, entertainment venues, and so on.

Hechler has previously repeatedly emphasized the importance of a close German-American partnership for the community's economy and security. The mayor, understandably, is reluctant to lose the substantial resources the Americans leave behind in his administrative territory.

Does a German regret the reduction of the occupying forces? What has Germany come to? The Americans will leave, let them settle migrants in their living space. And the Germans will be happy. Otherwise, let him complain to Merz or Sportloto. bully

Well, as usual, "just business, nothing personal."
Thousands of Germans work on, in, and around American bases in Germany and earn very decent wages.

So now Muslims from all over the world have flocked there—they're supposedly banning a lot of things. And so they'll close everything down. Money from visitors has always been a bonus, not a stable income. Some people are simply accustomed to freebies. The prices aren't set like they are for locals. It doesn't matter who's not local—vacationers, shift workers, migrant workers, military—everyone always pays a premium. So the gravy train is closing.

Trump won't stop at withdrawing 5 troops from Germany. According to one theory, the Americans are fleeing Europe before the war begins to say, "We're at home, we're for peace, we have nothing to do with this."

Evgeny, good afternoon. At Russian bases during the GDR and FRG era, prices in garrison stores were somewhat lower than outside the fences in Germany. On our ship, at the "guarantee" station at the Stralsund shipyard (I think Frau Merkel was the mayor, a frequent visitor to the Moodsund-class trawlers), the "duty officer" at the Russian air regiment would drive to the shipyard to buy alcohol. Do you happen to know what the situation is like at American bases?

Bürgermeister von Ramstein: Der Abzug der US-Truppen wird verheerende Folgen für unsere Gemeinde haben.

    Stupid mayor!
Over the past 20 years, several American military bases have been closed in Germany! And local residents and cities have survived!

However, for those familiar with history: USA - Ukraine - Germany - Russia.
Just like 100 years ago, Ukraine is no longer of interest to the United States!
Just like 100 years ago, the US leaves the dirty work to the Germans and Europeans.
The fascist, corrupt EU has no way out of the Ukrainian dilemma. Just as Hitler once attacked Russia, so will Merzler and the Europeans attack again!
And if the situation escalates, Germany, due to its special relationship with Russia, will get the hazelnuts first.
The Americans have left Germany, and who will now help the Germans, or rather, these idiotic German “politicians”?
Americans sit back and watch what happens to Europe!

Just like then, with a new beginning, with restoration, you can make more money!

dependent on the presence of US bases.
So, judging by the militant statements of Merz, Pistorius and other crazy melitarists in the local elite, the bases will not remain idle, in any case...
Another thing is that instead of generous Yankees, there will be stingy Germans...
Well, yes, the locals' income won't be the same, they'll have to cut down on the crucian carp!

    The land is probably federal.
Otherwise, they could have simply invited other tenants. If they don't want to be friends with the Russians at all, then they'll want to be friends with the Chinese.
Disciplined, they eat poultry rather than meat, and they're not very large... And the community would once again boost the economy. And dialects of colloquial Chinese, which could come in handy.
We could also invite the Sikhs, but that would probably be due to a complete lack of options.

      then the Chinese.
Disciplined, they eat more poultry than meat, and are not large...

They used to be small. The Chinese have grown noticeably in size long ago. And they've been eating meat for quite some time now.
Key facts about growth in China:
Dynamics: Average height has increased significantly over the past decades (from 161-163 cm for men at the beginning of the 20th century to almost 170-175 cm now).
Regional differences: In the north of the country (Beijing, Shandong) people are taller (174+ cm), in the south - shorter.
Age: Millennials are much taller than their parents.
Standards: In China, there is a cult of tallness, which is encouraged by feeding children milk and playing basketball/volleyball.

If each soldier spent $5 a month, that would be $5 million. Not bad for a small community.

    Will it be 25 million?
