The tanker Eureka has been seized off the coast of Yemen and is being taken into Somali waters.

The Yemeni Coast Guard reported the seizure of the oil tanker M/T Eureka off the coast of Shabwah province in the southeast of the country. According to the agency, unidentified armed individuals boarded the vessel, took control, and changed course toward the Gulf of Aden.

According to the latest information, the tanker is being led towards Somali territorial waters.

The tanker flies the Togolese flag. According to preliminary reports, it is carrying petroleum products. The vessel's owner and the nationality of the crew have not been officially disclosed. However, reports are emerging that the Eureka tanker loaded petroleum products in the United Arab Emirates.

The Yemeni Coast Guard stated that the tanker's location has been established and is being tracked. Measures are being taken to return the vessel and ensure the safety of the crew. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the hijacking. Media reports link the incident to possible activity by Somali pirates, who have become increasingly active in the region in recent weeks.

This comes amid ongoing tensions in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

It's worth noting that Somali pirates haven't been particularly active for several years. Now, given the current events, they could very well launch a hijacking, assuming it's not a false-flag operation.

The world has already forgotten about Somali pirates.
But the pirates themselves remember the golden days, when merchant ships were forbidden to resist them, and the military did not patrol the area.
And good or bad, I suppose, a few successful operations, and then they'll get the urge to rob everyone again. And then they'll be squeezed again.
Last time it wasn't covered much in the media, but they certainly wouldn't have been crushed without a lot of bloodshed.

and again the urine will go to their heads to rob everyone.

For your information, Somali pirates became active again at the end of 2023. This is the fourth vessel they have hijacked in the past two weeks. The previous one was the tanker Honor 25, carrying 18,500 barrels of oil.

If they're heading to Somalia, then the pirates are Somali. But that doesn't mean they're working for themselves; look for the leaders on the banks of the Potomac, Thames, Tiber, and Seine (that was the belief even more than 10 years ago).

True. They say the group that seized the tanker set out on a raid off the coast of the Somali city of Kalul.

hi These good people do not want to remain on the sidelines of world events and want to contribute to the development of market conditions and the regulation of world oil prices, causing a protest with their actions against the red-haired Satan from Washington (SARCASM).
Our task: to understand, to forgive.

They've become more active because they stopped patrolling the waters there. The Admiral Panteleyev and Marshal Shaposhnikov used to operate there...

Well, they weren't working. They were definitely there. But during the Soviet era, there was a base in Djibouti. Now it's a country of military bases. The US, China, Italy, France, Japan, and the Saudis are planning to do the same. And pirates are nearby. So, "...look for the ringleaders on the banks of the Potomac, Thames, Tiber, and Seine (that was the thinking more than 10 years ago)." - I agree 100%.

During the Soviet era, the base was at Dahlak, Ethiopia.
Who would have allowed the USSR to establish a base in Djibouti?

There were French Foreign Legionnaires stationed in Djibouti. As far as I remember, they were later asked to leave...

I got it wrong, sorry for the inaccuracy. In Somalia. There was a base in the port of Berbera until 1978. Then there was a change of power, new ones came under the US and asked them to leave.

Not quite so. War broke out between Somalia and Ethiopia, and the USSR decided that Ethiopia was more important, so the Berbera base was removed at Somalia's request.

        So this guy is lying?

Here, everyone criticizes officials and the bourgeoisie, while they themselves boast about some past achievements: sometimes they introduce themselves as admirals of the fleet, sometimes as bankers, sometimes as members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, sometimes as the most important industrialists and fishermen...
Forget your past lives, gentlemen. Today, you're on par with all the other sane users...

They showed off for a short time, captured a few pirates, and handed them over to the French, who then released them. A small show in a big game where no one is protecting anyone, even to this day.
But the whales made a big deal out of this safari; for big money, people could enjoy a "pirate hunt" on a specially equipped vessel (this included everyone, including fishermen, smugglers, and so on). The comments on the websites were disgusting to read.

The value of the tanker's cargo has increased severalfold. In London, relatives of the Samalian pirates recalled the "golden days" by purchasing military aid from Ukraine.

I apologize, but there is a possibility that Somali blacks stole a "tanker" with "diesel" from the "guys in slippers." The tanker previously operated on the Iraq-India route. The photo was removed to Vesselfinder, but the technical specifications remain. It's impossible to watch without tears 😢. wassat But the process is important. Lloyd's is about to refund the "pirate insurance" to shipowners at an exorbitant price. Iran can get paid, but why can't the British make a little extra money? The tanker's dimensions are 88 meters by 13 meters. Those brazen ones won't let it slip away. wassat

Somali pirates, unlike American ones, work on a piecework basis. It's business and no politics.
