The St. Petersburg-made Plastun-TTM all-terrain vehicle has received a combat superstructure: the new "Platform" modification carries machine guns from the PKTM to the Kord and is aiming to replace pickup trucks in mobile counteraction groups. drones.

The Plastun-TTM Platform is a compact wheeled all-terrain vehicle with a rear-mounted machine gun. The vehicle was developed for military use and is primarily intended for mobile counter-UAV fire teams—a sector currently experiencing a severe shortage of maneuverable and reliable vehicles.



The St. Petersburg-based company "Russian All-Terrain Vehicles Plastun" initially specialized in light tracked vehicles. Several years ago, it expanded into wheeled vehicles. The first result was the "Plastun-TT" (Tactical Transporter), unveiled at the "Army-2024" forum. Following testing, the vehicle was further refined: in November of that year, the modernized "Plastun-TTM" was released. Further development of the line resulted in the "Platform," unveiled on April 23, 2026.

The company published photographs of the updated all-terrain vehicle, and Izvestia revealed the project's key features and plans for the near future.

Self-propelled complex


The main difference of the "Platform" is the cargo area in the aft section, designed for mounting machine guns of various calibers and additional equipment for specific combat missions.

The Plastun-TTM "Platform" version was designed for military use from the very beginning. This all-terrain vehicle can handle situations where a pickup truck would get stuck, is easier to maintain, and is designed for long-term operation without major repairs.

The vehicle has undergone testing at the 21st Scientific Research and Testing Institute for Military Automotive Equipment, confirming its design parameters under various conditions. The developer is hoping for a military order.

Basic all-terrain vehicle


"Plastun-TT/TTM" is a two-axle all-terrain vehicle with increased cross-country ability, built according to articulated designThe vehicle consists of two sections: the front section carries the powertrain and cabin, while the rear section is designed for various platforms and add-ons. The articulation joint allows the sections to move relative to each other in several planes, which directly impacts off-road maneuverability and maneuverability.

Power plant - gasoline engine VAZ-21214 power 85 hp From the Niva. Some transmission components are also from civilian vehicles, and the axles are from the Gazelle series of trucks. This selection of components simplifies production and field maintenance.

Driving characteristics:
  • maximum speed on the highway - 100 km / h;
  • power reserve - 400 km;
  • climb angle with load — 30°;
  • ford depth - up to 800 mm.

Platform for "Platform"


The rear section of the Plastun-TTM frame allows for the installation of various add-ons. In the "Platform" design, this is a rectangular platform on a metal frame with an additional safety arc and netting at the front. There are no specialized weapon mounts: the machine guns are secured with standard mounts via rigging. Folding jacks are located on the sides for stabilization when firing from a stationary position.

The platform is designed for machine guns:
  • PKTM - normal caliber;
  • "Cliff" и "Cord" - large-caliber.

Fire can be conducted from a stationary position with jacks, from a short stop or on the move.

In addition to weapons, the all-terrain vehicle can carry communications equipment for receiving target designations and its own UAV detection or suppression systems. Electronics are provided with standard mounting points and power lines.

For different departments


In October 2025, the first Plastun-TTs were delivered to units involved in the Special Operation. The army may soon receive an armed version—the "Platform"—for counter-UAV mobile task forces. These vehicles will strengthen existing groups both in numbers and capabilities.


The platform's design doesn't limit the range of armament to machine guns. It can accommodate mounted systems of other classes, including anti tank or portable anti-aircraft missile complexesThis significantly expands the range of potential customers: the all-terrain vehicle could be of interest not only to mobile task forces, but also to units that currently use buggies.

A simple modification of the production chassis transforms the Plastun-TTM into a versatile combat platform. The customer is free to choose specific missions and weapons—the vehicle's potential allows for this.

      Sure, it's weak, but on the other hand, the design was kept as simple and inexpensive as possible, given the "technological consumption" of the water cooling system. In this sense, the VAZ engine is ideal. Everyone knows it, spare parts are plentiful, and the engines themselves are, in a sense, "lying around on the road (or side of the road)."       They increased traction thanks to the axles, and probably the transfer case is from a GAZ, not a VAZ. The Niva has a top speed of 130, while this one is only 100, even though the wheels are larger in diameter than the Niva's. The engine should have a water pump with a housing from a 2101 - it has a larger hole for fluid intake from the block. And the pulley on the water pump should be smaller, plus a copper-brass radiator from a UAZ - you won't overheat the engine then. Although the block could be bored out to 2 liters - reliability won't suffer much. And yes, the ZMZ engine is a good fit, but it also needs to be reassembled, replacing some plastic parts with brass and other minor things, and then it will produce 170-190 hp. Engine displacement is important - it's not advisable to tow 3,2 tons of gross weight with 1,7 liters. They could have installed a diesel engine. Overall, what's the problem with taking the all-wheel-drive Sobol chassis and simplifying the cabin? And a Hunter-framed windshield would be ideal. And it even folds down. The Hunter chassis is even cheaper to redesign, and it'll be at least half a ton lighter in curb weight. And both the UAZ and GAZ have axle locks from the factory.

    What a piece of junk! Will it even move when fully loaded? If they took the axles from a Gazelle, they should have used the engine too. Even a factory Tadpole or UAZ pickup would be better than this homemade product.
    If you want something stronger, you can install a YaMZ engine on the Shishiga and upgrade the cab to a simpler, bonneted configuration. This will significantly improve the truck's off-road capability, payload capacity, and service life.
