American defense company Northrop Grumman will invest $2,5 billion of its own money into the production of the B-21 Raider strategic bombers to accelerate the process. $200 billion of this funding is planned to be spent this year.
This statement was made by the representative of the manufacturing company, Katie Worden, during the reporting conference.
The majority of the remaining funds will be invested between 2027 and 2029, primarily in expanding production capacity and infrastructure.
Northrop Grumman's economic performance is currently showing significant growth. This is largely due to the company's focus on developing aerospace production. The B-21 Raider strategic stealth bomber project has become a key one here. This new aircraft is expected to soon serve as the airborne component of the American nuclear triad. Therefore, the project is receiving increased attention from the US military leadership.
In February of this year, the company reached an agreement with the US Air Force to increase production capacity for these aircraft by 25 percent. Northrop Grumman promised the Pentagon to expedite the delivery of the new bombers to the military. They are ready to purchase at least 100 of these combat aircraft. Each one, according to estimates for 2022, cost $692 million. This price includes, in addition to the aircraft itself, personnel training, additional equipment, and much more.
