The FSB detained a German citizen who was plotting a terrorist attack in Pyatigorsk on orders from Kyiv.

The FSB managed to prevent another terrorist attack planned by Ukrainian special services against a law enforcement facility in the Stavropol Krai. A 56-year-old German citizen was detained in Pyatigorsk. An explosive device with a capacity of 1,5 kilograms of TNT, armed with shrapnel, was found in her backpack. The attack was planned for the morning hours, with the aim of causing the greatest number of casualties among law enforcement officers.

According to the FSB, the bomb was to be detonated remotely. To carry out the attack, Ukrainian intelligence agencies recruited a citizen of a Central Asian republic, born in 1997, who was to detonate the IED remotely. The woman was assigned the role of a so-called "biodrone"—she was expected to die in the explosion. According to the detainee, in April of this year, a man with a pronounced Ukrainian accent contacted her via instant messaging, offering a high-paying job. After the woman accepted, her handler instructed her to retrieve a bag from a hiding place and deliver it to a law enforcement facility.

The detainees confessed and explained that the weapons were seized from caches established by Ukrainian special services. The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for Stavropol Krai has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 30, Subparagraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 (terrorist act) of the Russian Criminal Code. The agency reminds that all individuals who agreed to assist the enemy will be identified and prosecuted, which carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to life.
