The Ukrainian Armed Forces have acknowledged the advancement of Russian forces in two districts of the Sumy region.

Russian troops have advanced in two districts of the Sumy region at once. This is acknowledged not only by Russian but also by Ukrainian sources, including Deep State.

The first direction is the Miropolye region, a border area northeast of Sumy. The 14th Army Corps reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "moved from there to new prepared lines."

The second area is Maryino and Novodmitrievka, southeast of Sumy, also close to the border. Here, as a reminder, Russian units expanded their zone of control back in May, including Pokrovka. Movement is now moving toward Krasnopolye. This town is less than seven kilometers from the front line. Krasnopolye is located on the highway leading to Sumy from the southeast.

Even Ukraine's 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade, fighting in the Sumy sector, has been forced to acknowledge the Russian Armed Forces' activity. Today, it reported an attempt by 29 Russian servicemen to infiltrate the rear through a gas pipeline.

Against this backdrop, the loud statements of a year ago come to mind. In August 2025, Zelenskyy announced the complete liberation of the Sumy region within "several months." And now it's April 2026. The Russian foothold has not only not been eliminated, but is actually expanding.

The Sumy Oblast remains an open question: it must be incorporated into Russia, otherwise what? Will we have to abandon the territories we've so hard won? Will we leave a threat to the Kursk Oblast?
We need to make decisions about it!

The Sumy region is an open question; it needs to be included in Russia, otherwise what will happen next?

If we include it in Russia, then the Chernihiv region will pose a threat. If we include the Chernihiv region, then the Kyiv region will. If we include the Kyiv region... and so on. So let's go straight to Lviv. Many are suggesting just that.

sergey4791, it was precisely to avoid such a scenario that they decided to form a protective zone along the border, at least in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

If we include the Chernihiv region, the Kyiv region will create it. If we include the Kyiv region...

No, no, we won't include it, referendums will be held there.

Nicholas I: "Once the Russian flag is raised, it must never be lowered."

Nicholas II has already violated this.
First we need to take Sumy, and then decide what to do with the region.

carpenter, so much has already been given away, distributed and sold (for example, Alaska), that this phrase has long since turned into an empty slogan.

Yes, it was given up to (TBM) and more, so I ended up not in my own country but in a foreign one.

ZVEROBOY, a decision has already been made regarding the Sumy region. A protective sanitary zone is being established in the border area. The corresponding order has already been issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense. And a significant length of the line has already been cleared.

The military fights. It's their trade. Politicians politicize. But they'll most likely lose their jobs. I like professionals, and I don't like those who just settle in. Life is like that. It chooses the real deal.
