A ship heading to the port of Chornomorsk in the Odessa region was attacked in the Black Sea.

The LADY MARIS, a vessel en route to the port of Chornomorsk (Illichivsk) in the Odessa region, was attacked in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian Navy reported the strikes by Russian forces on the vessel.

The bulk carrier was reportedly sailing under the Liberian flag to the port of Chornomorsk to load and then export corn. The vessel was likely not empty, but no details have been released.

Kyiv propaganda has already begun to lament "deliberate attacks on food security." Last year, agricultural exports accounted for up to 40% of Ukraine's total export revenue. The attack on the vessel on the high seas is yet another clear signal to the Zelensky regime's Western allies.

Judging by the photographs published by the Ukrainian Navy, the attack was carried out using strike aircraft. dronesA fire broke out on the vessel, but was extinguished. The crew was unharmed. A Ukrainian Navy boat quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

Additionally, Russian Armed Forces drones attacked port infrastructure in Izmail overnight. The attack damaged a Panamanian-flagged vessel, a pier, and a barge. Port equipment was also damaged. A major fire broke out at the landing sites.

According to information received, the EXELON, a vessel transporting diesel fuel, was struck in the port of Izmail. The strike occurred in the bow, where the fuel system pipelines and pumping equipment are located. Fuel supply lines, deck communications, and ventilation systems were damaged. tanks, and partially the fuel tanks. A fire broke out, causing damage to the metal structures.

Apparently, strikes were again directed at energy facilities. DTEK's regional office reported power outages in the Izmail district.

I'd like to know who the owner of the vessel is and who ordered the goods (corn). But here, as with the seizure of tankers belonging to the shadow fleet, the owner and buyer are almost never revealed. At best, they limit themselves to the nationality of the crew and that's it...
What if the Indians or the Chinese wanted to buy this corn? Or do we know who's safe and who's safe in the Black Sea?

Norman, well, ships don't teleport into Ukrainian waters. Therefore, on their way to Ukrainian waters, the ships navigate through the waters of NATO countries—Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania—and then Ukrainian waters are covered by mines, anti-ship missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

There's a lot that could be done to it, even captured by a Marine platoon. The question is, how would that be considered? As an act of piracy! First, the waters would need to be officially closed, warnings issued about combat operations, and then all means could be used. They've only wagged a finger here.

If they simply seize it, then yes. But if they declare a complete blockade of the 404th coast and systematically sink everything that even accidentally turns its nose toward its ports, then they'll squeal and then stop. Especially since all these NATO Black Sea gaskets have already helped Ukraine ten times over. And without falling under Article 5 of the NATO Charter.

Well, firstly, you still have to get from Odessa to the territorial waters of Romania, it’s not that close, and the ports of greater Odessa themselves are by no means safe; secondly, to get to the Romanian territorial waters on a steamship with a deep draft, you won’t be able to hug the shore very close – the depths are not great.

I'd also like to hear the same, Alexey Alexandrovich, but when was the last time you heard of an attack on ships in Ukrainian ports? If I'm not mistaken, there were two strikes a year ago, and that's it. The Aerospace Forces are only targeting port infrastructure, which is quite ineffective. It's far more effective to sink ships right at their berths, but even a year ago, they were sinking ships not at their berths, but in the waters. Even if the Aerospace Forces destroy all the cranes and access roads in Ukrainian ports, it's unlikely to stop port operations. Many dry cargo ships have their own booms, and they could quite successfully replace port cranes. But the political leadership clearly doesn't allow the Aerospace Forces to do this (sinking ships right at their berths), just as they didn't allow the collapse of the Beskydy tunnel, nor the destruction of bridges across the Dnieper. And so on and so forth. If this continues for another couple of years, Russia, unfortunately, WILL lose the war. Drones imported from the West are already beginning to overload Russia's air defenses (not to mention that a drone is several times cheaper than even the cheapest Pantsir missile). This leads to enormous economic losses and losses in air defense systems, and the latter are not in infinite supply.

The Onyx anti-ship missile, the system's primary armament, has a standard firing range of up to 300 km. In this case, the Bastion is capable of protecting a coastal zone 600 km wide. The upgraded Onyx-M version increases this range to 800 km.

After the attack on our gas tanker, our hands are free
And after the previous blows, were they connected?

Extremely weak. They should be sunk, preferably right while unloading the weapons. But the government doesn't want to fight.

Another option is to issue an ultimatum demanding a change of course to Novorossiysk. If there is no response, sink the vessel.

A very sensible idea indeed. I can just imagine the captain's face after such a warning. hi

Apparently, they decided to remove yet another commander-in-chief of the Black Sea Fleet for inaction...

It is not good to sink someone else's civilian ship.

If it's under the flags of banana republics, then it's possible and necessary. And then let Liberia send a note of protest. laughing

The ship was probably not empty, but nothing was reported about it.

So there's no need to guess, but it was necessary to attack it with BEKs or anti-ship missiles until it sank...
A Ukrainian Navy boat quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

This also needed to be sorted out, at least in memory of the attacked Black Sea Fleet ships...

Who dared? Who disobeyed? It's impossible! What will the world powers say about us? God forbid they accuse us of war crimes! We must find the culprits! There are enough red markers for everyone... :-) That's how we will win...

And the UN will still give us a tatata, and the hegemon will introduce more sanctions for not complying with its democracy, and we will throw up our hands and say - sorry.

Decided to stage a one-off protest before the elections? Until then, the fascist ships had been largely ignored.

It's a bit weak. I had to reset it completely.

Anything approaching the port piers must be grounded. This will permanently halt loading and unloading operations.

It would take hundreds of holes like those in the ship's structure shown in the photo to sink it. Therefore, it seems plausible that this is a provocation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, aimed at blaming Russia and thereby justifying their attacks on ships in the Black Sea.

It’s a pity that we, unlike the Ukrainian Armed Forces, don’t have BEKs.

What kind of bragging is this! Why didn't they sink it? They're hitting ours!

What kind of signal is this?
The cargo trough was not sunk, and the cargo was likely delivered intact. The Ukrainian Armed Forces patrol boat was not destroyed.
