The enemy has demonstrated Sky Sentinel turrets designed to combat Geraniums.

Enemy media outlets report that the Ukrainian company Carmine Sky has deployed turrets mounted with Sky Sentinel remotely controlled turrets armed with 12,7mm Browning M2 machine guns on Ukrainian territory. These combat modules are allegedly designed primarily to counter Russian strike forces. drones family "Geranium".

Combat modules of "private" Defense" are equipped with cameras with machine vision capabilities. The module is claimed to be capable of automatically targeting, rotating 360 degrees, and engaging airborne targets moving at speeds of up to 800 km/h. According to Carmine Sky, the effectiveness of these systems is claimed to be 85%. However, given the realities of modern warfare, the survivability of such fixed solutions is highly questionable.

It was previously reported that, according to the newspaper L'AntiDiplomatico, the Ukrainian air defense specialists sent by Zelensky to the Middle East were asked to leave the Persian Gulf countries, as all five facilities they were protecting were destroyed by Iranian drone strikes. Furthermore, the Gulf monarchies were displeased by the fact that the Ukrainian "specialists" attempted to shoot down the Iranian drones. drones Two skyscrapers were hit. The publication also confirmed that 21 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the Iranian strike.

Somehow the geraniums in their video are flying sideways

A dangerous thing. In Odessa, a mobile task force killed a baby; the spent bullet pierced the roof of a private home.

It's dangerous, that's for sure. For both of us. I remember one incident in the Soviet Army. The shooting range was closed because there was a road 2,5 kilometers away. A bus was driving by, and a bullet flew in, broke the window, and lodged in the side of the bus. Luckily, it didn't hit anyone. For this reason, if the air defense is repelling an attack, it's best not to even stand near the window.

Now we're waiting for outraged cries along the lines of "the scammers have beaten us to it again." Only the lazy haven't been talking about the need to develop and mass-produce similar turrets here two years ago. And only the "geniuses at Rostec" seem to understand the obvious, or perhaps they simply don't have the time; the traditional "division" of the money is very costly.

I think our guys have experienced something similar too. The question is, who will make it widespread first?

NakedMan, the only difference is that while we are "testing" them, they are mass-producing them, accepting them into service, supplying them to the troops, and then giving them (probably out of the kindness of their hearts) to our "brothers" from the 404.

In general, stop waiting for "Geranium-4", "Geranium-5"... How many wonderful names our pharmacies have...perdolan, lohein, dristan, papazol.... Just launch a series with such names and everyone will be in shock! laughing

"The viability of such stationary solutions seems highly questionable."

Why such a conclusion? They won't be posted on personal accounts.

2022. Given the realities of modern warfare, the effectiveness of Ukrainian FPV drones is highly questionable.

Why waste firearms? Make an air-powered machine gun, nine barrels in a 50x50cm frame, you can't miss. It's perfect for defending stationary targets. A magazine holds thousands of steel balls. Alternatively, use nails. Anything with propellers won't fly. An air-powered machine gun will definitely cover its 100-200 meter range.

100-200 meters is nothing. Defending literally one point at low altitude, and everything shot down will fall there by inertia. And there simply won't be time to turn around 180 degrees. You can't protect a factory that way. A turret with a range of a kilometer or a kilometer and a half is a completely different matter.

        Example: McGlashan machine gun 1937.

        https://yandexwebcache.net/yandbtm?fmode=inject&tm=1776082265&tld=ru&lang=ru&la=1775094912&text=пневматический+пулемет+от+компрессора&url=https%3A//dzen.ru/a/ZFUQ-XwSqwq7vnQv&l10n=ru&mime=html&sign=284284cbc6ec1fd7584e7375cf5d1939&keyno=0

And you could place 1000s of these "pop guns" in industrial zones and on vehicles. Copters don't stand a chance. They only require compressed air and electricity. The cost of launching a projectile is negligible! And the "density of fire" is higher than that of a shotgun.

P.S.: It should also work against crows and seagulls over garbage dumps. It also works against birds over runways.

I wonder which is more expensive, Geranium or Sky Sentinel?

The viability of such stationary solutions seems highly questionable.

It all depends on the density and effectiveness of the air defense system. If it's not dense enough, then without it, the nightingale's ass is gone.

Ukrainian company Carmine Sky has deployed towers with Sky Sentinel remotely controlled turrets armed with 12,7mm Browning M2 machine guns on Ukrainian territory.

Well, it's an obvious and correct solution!!! It's difficult to manually control a 12,7 mm machine gun, but with a tripod and automatic aiming, everything becomes simpler and more effective.

Why did they think of this in Ukraine again, but not in Russia?!

Just don't turn on the arrogance again as usual and ridicule the Ukrainian approach to solving the problem of air defense against UAVs.

There's no need to overthink this—everything's already been thought of. For example, smart people were writing about the use of drones and countermeasures back in 2018, maybe even earlier. We need to do it, but that's a problem.

So, read the comments above. They say things like: it's dangerous, another Ukrainian blunder, expensive, for embezzlement, and anyway, what good can these scumbags come up with? We probably have better ones, and so on... So, this whole Ukrainian thing is bullshit. We shoot down drones with hats and finish them off with slippers.... This is on the forum. Do you think other places think differently? But these towers could easily block the corridors through which enemy drones infiltrate Russian facilities declared as targets for Ukrainian UAVs.

Well, now at least the Gulf monarchs admit that residential buildings in Kiev (and other cities of the 404 non-country) are mostly hit by Russian drones, missiles, etc.
