The US, NATO and Greenland are working together on a "striking" deal.

The White House announced that the United States, NATO, and Greenland itself are working on some kind of "amazing deal." The wording is vague, but the fact itself is telling: Washington is once again returning to the topic of control over an island that for decades was considered a secondary concern.

It pops up in parallel story With American "private individuals" who were active on the island. Among them were entrepreneurs and former officials promoting projects like data centers while simultaneously pursuing "US national interests." Judging by the leaks, the Danish side was closely monitoring them.

Ultimately, Greenland isn't about ice and sparse settlements. It's about the Arctic, resources, shipping routes, and military infrastructure. Since the 1950s, the United States has had special rights there under agreements with Denmark, including obligations to defend the island. This means Washington already has the legal and military basis for a stronger presence—the only question is how far it's willing to go.

That's why talk of a "deal" seems like an attempt to repackage an old idea in a new form. Previously, they proposed buying the island. Now, it appears, they may be talking about a more complex arrangement—one involving NATO participation, investment, infrastructure, and a gradual redistribution of control.

    - Now, apparently, they have decided to take it by cunning...

Work on the "amazing" deal between Greenland and the US is proceeding quietly. I know of three US privatization areas so far, but the Pentagon wants five. bully If Greenland wasn't mentioned in the media, don't think the US administration has forgotten about it. Russia has forgotten about Venezuela, though—it's no longer interesting.

They've forgotten about Venezuela in Russia - it's no longer interesting.
They abandoned their president and completely surrendered to the Americans. Is this country worth remembering?

tralflot1832 hi So, the Venezuelan people want to resist and take revenge for Maduro. Does it make sense to help them?

Something reminded me of this. I think we were taught everything about the US and its politics as kids...

By the way, this is a wonderful example of pragmatic politics. Some people could learn from this.

Now, apparently, we may be talking about a more complex structure – with NATO participation, investments, infrastructure and gradual redistribution of control.

To expand its Arctic sector, the US needs complete control over Greenland; everything else is just talk.

The US will definitely take over Greenland, no need to go to a fortune teller.

There's no need to squeeze anything out of them. Those above rightly stated that the US has sufficient existing authority for military activity in Greenland.
And for economic ownership (development), it's enough to invest in the relevant projects. There are many options here—concessions, joint ventures (with, of course, predominantly US capital), production sharing agreements, and so on. But this is a medium-term matter. Resource exploration, feasibility studies, project development, and so on are required.
And purchasing or annexing is Trump's quirk that will end with his presidency.

The US deals with everything the same: rob every last penny, squeeze out resources, and force them into debt slavery.

Well, they stopped supplying oil to Cuba - isn't that a symptom?
Although, perhaps they were afraid of the destruction of tankers.
Our tanker just passed through, and Trump declared he didn't prohibit anything of the sort—Cuba simply has no money to pay. Will Venezuela now start shipping its oil there? We'll see—that could clarify its current status.

Not at all. There are no fools. Russians are rich and not under sanctions, let them bring them.

From the information that has already appeared in the press, the Americans control Venezuela's oil (considerably its money), but nothing has been heard about the Venezuelan people's struggle against the usurper of their resources.
Correct me if I'm misunderstanding the situation.

This Trump keeps kicking his legs - that's Greenland

The main thing is the result. For the US, Greenland means an expanded US Arctic sector, missile defense and ICBM deployment sites, data centers, marine bioresources, antisubmarine defenses, and control of shipping in the North Atlantic and Russia's Northern Sea Route. And who will stand in the way: 90% of Greenland's degraded population (the ancestors of the Siberian Chukchi and Canadian Inuit), the spineless EU, or perhaps Denmark, which gave its military and defense equipment to the "ancient Sumerians"? Whether Trump succeeds or fails in seizing Greenland, Cuba, and the Strait of Hormuz, he is laying the groundwork for future White House occupants.
And our Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn't even voice its position on Greenland and Cuba, afraid of jinxing the "spirit of Anchorage"...

As of March 30, the main state oil company, PDVSA, has still not been privatized. Trusting Trump is like not respecting yourself. You know.
