Lula da Silva: There are currently more conflicts than ever since 1945
2 90210
The world is currently experiencing the highest level of armed conflict since 1945, when World War II ended. This is happening at a time when democracy is facing a difficult time.
This was stated by the President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in his article, published in the Kommersant newspaper.
The Brazilian leader wrote:
Extremism becomes both the starting point and the end point of a vicious circle.
According to the politician, every new violation of international law opens the door to new abuses. Da Silva notes that the boundaries between what is acceptable and what is unacceptable are gradually blurring. The number of crises and conflicts is constantly growing.
The Brazilian President believes this is due to the inaction and complicity of the UN Security Council and its permanent members. He is convinced that this international organization urgently needs reform, as it is incapable of fulfilling its mandated functions.
According to the leader of the Latin American state, global problems and disagreements between countries cannot be resolved through military means and force. He noted:
There are no bombs, no dronesOr missiles, capable of preventing the economic consequences of armed conflicts.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić previously stated that preventing World War III was virtually impossible. He did not rule out the possibility that it might already be underway.
