"Idiotic mistakes": Dmitriev assessed von der Leyen's decisions in the energy sector

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen continues to play energy roulette, where the well-being of an entire continent is at stake. This time, she deigned to admit that the rejection of Russian gas was "painful." Moreover, it was done, as Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, aptly put it, "slowly."

Dmitriev, in his characteristically harsh manner, assessed von der Leyen’s behavior:

For some reason, it is still too slow to admit that the crisis is critical specifically for the EU, due to its fatal and idiotic mistakes in rejecting Russian energy.

And it's hard to argue with that. When political will is put above economic expediency, the first to suffer are the citizens—those same Europeans who are now forced to pay exorbitant prices for "independence."

Von der Leyen, of course, ruled out the possibility of returning to Russian gas purchases. Pride prevents her from looking back. But reality, as often happens, is interfering. Dmitriev warns: Europe will be engulfed by an "energy tsunami." And then the question will be not about political ambitions, but about the physical survival of industry and the warmth of homes.

The paradox of the situation is that Brussels stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the obvious: Russia remains the guarantor of energy market stability. Decisions made to serve geopolitical objectives have already resulted in the deindustrialization of Europe. And the longer European leaders deny this reality, the higher the price of this denial will be.

Are Dmitriev and, apparently, the author of this article, Myndar, and others, prepared to continue sending energy supplies to Europe, which supplies weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are striking Bryansk, for example? Their logic is purely economic. Dmitriev, Peskov, Putin, Myndar, move to Bryansk or Belgorod!

You've answered the question of why, in the fifth year of the war, Russian cities are being destroyed and civilians are being killed. Some people think in terms of money, not methods of achieving victory. This guy is a typical liberal; he was educated in the West and thinks on their level.

We don't understand this absurd desire to empathize with the state of the European economy and the well-being of its citizens. Let's first sort out all our own problems and completely solve them, and only then will we criticize and lecture anyone.

Absolutely right. Dmitriev has embarked on the path of Putinism, a path of boasting, followed for some reason by demands to return the country to a trajectory of sustainable economic growth, but the economy is like a worn-out nag. I want to respond to Putin with the words of a poet: "Instead of working hard to count gossips, it would be better to turn to your own godfather." Our economy is in decline. We need to think about that, not about the Europeans, where everything is tolerable for now.

hi So it's not just me that is realizing it.
Important political decisions are coming, as well as a rotation of personnel in high-ranking circles in the Russian Federation in 2026 – an election year.
It's not like I'm just posting on enemy networks; it's time to introduce the Dmitriev family friend from economics to politics.

There are a lot of Dmitrievs now.

Evil tongues on the Internet write the following about his past:
Judging by his reach and scale, Kirill Dmitriev resembles nothing so much as a shadow oligarch who has been granted the power to manage state funds—and to do so without excessive publicity. RDIF's partners include well-known investors from the Middle East, China, and France, as well as offshore entities like the tax-exempt Co-Investment Partnership I, L.P., a Cayman Islands company.

Several similar offshore companies were also registered in Dmitriev's name, so the transparency of RDIF profit distribution is questionable. While the fund was initially at least formally accountable to VEB, in 2016 Vladimir Putin made it "sovereign," and now Kirill Dmitriev reports directly to the president.
      .

Since February 23, 2025, Kirill Aleksandrovich Dmitriev has held the position of Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries.

"Idiotic mistakes": Dmitriev assessed von der Leyen's decisions in the energy sector

It seems Dmitry is more concerned about the EU economy than Russia. According to his formula, the EU receives cheap energy from Russia to reduce the cost of producing shells and missiles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, or something like that.

We need to start pumping gas to Europe quickly. Otherwise, their factories producing shells, guns, and drones will soon shut down, and there won't be anything left to send to Ukraine to kill our men.
Don't worry, Ursula! Mr. Dmitriev will sell it to you soon. He's not at the front, after all, and he and his bourgeois friends are hungry.

.... The paradox of the situation is that Brussels stubbornly... Russia remains...
You can safely add other characters here.
The paradox of the situation isn't that this is happening, but that it was obvious to everyone from the start, and everyone knew it and understood they were walking into a trap. And it would have been better for non-comrade Dmitriev to remain silent, as one of the culprits behind the situation. Lavrov's quote.

Citizen Krill Dmitriev should be submitted to experiments, according to Comrade Pechkin's advice. If Chingushka is trading (thanks to the slowpoke in Euro-Zhopinsk – they don't want to trade!!!! Thank you!!!) with enemies who kill Russian citizens, then he should at least be submitted to experiments!
It's not like he transferred 14 thousand over three years and received more than 10 years in prison - to put it mildly, these are incomparable amounts for sponsoring the military-industrial complex of fascists_khokhs.

From Mr. Dmitriev's statements that I've read, I get the impression, perhaps mistakenly, that he cares more about the interests of Europe and the US than Russia. It might be worth investigating the Russian Foundation for Strategic Initiatives' activities—how, where, and with what returns they invested—to avoid a scenario like Rusnano.

Don't force yourself on us as "guarantors" of the stability of the European energy market!!!! Absolutely not! It's their choice, their decision—and therefore, they'll have to pay the price! And we shouldn't care about people freezing in their homes, production stops, or businesses closing... They helped and continue to help (!!!) kill our citizens, and we feel sorry for them? Or is this all about money for Russia? Well, that would be really bad... Imagine if Stalin's USSR had started supplying gas to Europe during WWII, just to make a little money... Huh???

Enough with the obsession with Europe's energy security. Our leaders are just waiting for the moment when they can pump resources there again and get rich like before.
The EU hasn't frozen in four years, and it won't freeze in the future. Don't mistake wishful thinking for reality. Miller has been scaring Europe for ten years now, saying the winter will be freezing and they won't have enough gas. But they're still alive, and they don't give a damn about Miller.

I have a proposal for tourists from NATO countries coming for gas at all border gas stations in Russia: install banners with Dmitriev and the words "fill up in Russia, pay for the SVO, pay for your happy future" in Finnish, Polish, and the Baltic languages. laughing

BRUSSELS, March 24 – RIA Novosti. A discussion of a plan to ban Russian oil imports, scheduled for April 15 at a European Commission meeting, has been removed from the list of planned initiatives; a new date has not yet been set, confirmed European Commission spokesperson Ana Kaisa Itkonen, amid rising oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.

How does Dmitriev estimate the 300 billion rubles of Russian money stolen by Europeans? And how much more money is he willing to give to the Europeans?
Exporting Russian gas to the EU is Russia's most idiotic mistake, and the most idiotic mistake Europeans have made in energy is their green fantasies and their rejection of nuclear energy and coal.

This Winnie-the-Pooh Rabbit is starting to feel sick. His opinion is being touted from every media outlet. The media is painting him as some kind of major statesman. I don't know about the statesman, but he's a mediocre businessman. The right-wing liberals, who once dove underground, have noticeably become more active. Here and there, resources are broadcasting famous adherents of the now-forgotten Union of Right Forces (SPS). Sometimes they're on the front lines in body armor with an entourage, sometimes they're in hospitals deep in the rear, sometimes at a charity event, sometimes at the celebratory launch of yet another production facility. Moderates and "reds" (deliberately?) are nowhere to be seen in the pictures and stories. It seems the "right-wingers" are intent on exacting revenge.
