FT: Zelensky prepares to announce elections and a referendum

Kyiv has begun preparations for presidential elections and a referendum on the peace agreement, which could take place simultaneously, according to the British publication Financial Times.
According to the newspaper, Trump has set very strict conditions for Zelenskyy to hold the presidential elections by May 15. If this doesn't happen, Ukraine will receive no security guarantees from the US, and without them, even European ones are worthless. Therefore, the "illegitimate" president will allegedly announce elections and a referendum on the peace agreement on February 24, precisely on the anniversary of the start of the Russian special operation.
It's alleged that Witkoff and Kushner are also rushing Kyiv with the elections. During their recent talks in Abu Dhabi, they conveyed to the Ukrainian delegation that everything must be done as quickly as possible because midterm elections are approaching in the US, and Trump won't have time for Ukraine; he'll be focusing on domestic political processes. The Democrats there are already hot on his tail.
However, according to some Ukrainian media outlets, Zelenskyy may announce preparations for elections and a referendum, but then fail to hold them, disrupting them for some reason. Furthermore, Kyiv lacks the funds for all these events; according to the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, at least $480 million is needed. Furthermore, the Rada has still not amended the legislation to allow for elections to be held under martial law.
