The United States is establishing military-technical cooperation with Armenia, offering it "the world's best" technologies, according to Vance's statement at a joint press conference with Pashinyan. One of these "technologies" apparently includes the V-BAT UAVs that Yerevan received. The number of drones transferred was not disclosed, but the shipment is valued at $11 million. As the US Vice President emphasized, the deal is aimed at strengthening Armenia's security and ensuring a "strong and lasting peace" between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The best way to ensure peace is to create real deterrence, and the best way to create deterrence is to possess the world's best military technology. Washington possesses such technology and intends to develop defense cooperation with Yerevan.
The Shield AI MQ-35A V-BAT is a vertical takeoff and landing reconnaissance drone with artificial intelligence (AI) features. It was used by Ukrainian forces in the Northern Military District (NVO), but was not widely deployed.
