"These are not Shahids": The enemy writes about new UAVs used by the Russian Armed Forces tonight.

Ukrainian monitoring publics write that Russia is increasingly using Drones, which sound significantly different from the "Geraniums" in flight. As a reminder, in Ukraine, Russian "Geraniums" are still called "Shaheds."

From publications:

The sound in flight is completely different. At first I didn't even understand if it was real. Drone.

These aren't "Shaheds." These are some other kind of UAV.

Flies quietly with a whistling sound.

According to the latest data, attacks using UAVs continue against targets in the Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The "Gerani" (or "non-Gerani") missiles reached their targets near the village of Vasylkivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Arrivals were recorded at Boryspil Airport near Kyiv, home to Ukraine's largest airport (and logistics hub).

Fires caused by the incoming strikes are raging in Odessa's industrial zone. Power outages are reported in parts of the city and surrounding region.

As a reminder, there have been previous reports of Russia using Geran-5 UAVs. These UAVs (or rather, the one demonstrated by the enemy) differ significantly in configuration from the Geran-2. Their stated range is 1 km.

What's the difference?! Shaheeds/Gerani, what's the difference? The main thing is to hit their empty heads more often and more often!

"We don't know what it is, even if we knew what it is, we don't know what it is." It only remains to be said more often and more precisely.

Yes, they know everything. Here's a Ukrainian infographic with information about our drones.

The sound in flight was completely different. At first, I couldn't even tell if it was a drone.

The ducks are flying...the ducks are flying...to the sweet goose.
The sound is perfect...drones are constantly improving, and who knows where evolution will take them...they are developing new functions and capabilities...this process is very similar to the explosive growth and evolution of dinosaurs in the Mesozoic era...their habitat allows it.

Geraniums - 1, 2, 3, 4, and now 5. It's clear that the military finds it easier to name everything the same, preferably with numbers. There are only 10 of them, and 33 letters, so it can get confusing. wink .
But there was a good experience when we held a naming contest for Poseidon, Burevestnik, and Peresvet. And it's easy on the ears, it's beautiful, and everything is immediately clear.

I remember the Soviet film: Chronicle of a Dive Bomber - "You will be a gunner-radio operator, but in your soul you are a pilot! You will fly with a whistle backwards!"

I once had a flight attendant on my crew who, when approaching the plane before takeoff, would pronounce this phrase. And, by the way, he flew backwards. The plane was a Tu-22.

It looks like a blockade of Ukrainian ports has begun, or is this a one-time event? Video at the link.

Operators of the Russian Rubicon UAV center yesterday attacked vessels heading to the Ukrainian port of Odessa. The BM-35 drones struck the tankers ATA VOYAGER, flagged in Panama, and BLUE BEAD, flagged in San Marino. The Ukrainian side confirmed the ships' destruction, effectively acknowledging that the country's maritime trade had been suspended. In this case, the legitimacy of the Russian military's actions is beyond doubt. As is known, the Kyiv regime's intelligence services have recently attacked tankers belonging to Russia's "shadow fleet" several times in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

The Italmas UAV (BM-35): a new generation of long-range drones

The first prototype appeared in 2023, and it underwent further development in 2025. It is now an effective loitering munition—a reconnaissance and strike weapon in a single package.

The device is designed for precision strikes against high-value targets at ranges exceeding 200 km. It operates autonomously, is resistant to electronic warfare, and requires no complex launch preparation—the drone can be launched from a mobile platform or catapult in just a few minutes.

Italmas carries up to 40 kg of warhead, can hover for several hours, and operate as part of a group, coordinating with other drones. It can be used in formation both individually and in swarm mode.

The drone was actively used in the Soviet-Air Force zone, conducting reconnaissance, transmitting coordinates, and striking enemy infrastructure and equipment. After its 2025 upgrade, it received improved thermal imagers and targeting algorithms, increasing accuracy and reducing interception losses.

Well, no. The military-industrial complex remembered that every Russian has several old cell phones lying around in their closets and attics. So they started using them to produce Geraniums, Kalibrs, and all sorts of other Iskanders. laughing

    USED.
"Used by the Russian Armed Forces."
The night has passed and the event has already happened; it is in the past. Therefore, the past tense form of the verb should be used.

Geranium-5 is essentially a cheap cruise missile.

Geranium-5 is not actually a drone, but a small cruise missile.
It has a cylindrical body and two pairs of opening wings.

Allegedly "Geranium-5." According to the previous description, it should also have video cameras (forward and backward) and some mysterious device for throwing/launching "mines for firing at enemy air defense drones."

Actually, the Ukrainians have been writing a lot lately about the "Geran-4" and "Geran-5"! The "Geran-4" is smaller, with an airframe like the "Geran-2", weight = 450 kg, warhead = 50 kg, speed = 350-500 km, range = 850-950 km! The "Geran-5" is larger, with an airframe like the "Tomahawk", weight = 850 kg, warhead = 90 kg, speed = 450-600 km, range = up to 1050 km... The "Geran-5" has a Chinese engine with a thrust of 200 kgf... The "Geran-4" has a weaker engine!

A mere aerodynamicist with even the slightest understanding of the concept, looking at the layout of the well-known Geraniums and the supposed Geranium-5 from the Ukrainian picture (we're discussing the appearance of a new UAV of this type based solely on enemy publications!), would say, "I doubt it." The weight is twice as great, even though the engine is somewhat more powerful, the aerodynamic quality of the layout is clearly inferior to that of a "flying wing," and the flight speed is almost identical. Furthermore, the cylindrical body clearly offers less space for all the useful components, which distinguishes the new Geranium from earlier models. These are the doubts that prevent the Ukrainian picture from being considered a depiction of the new Geranium-5. Perhaps one day the Russian Ministry of Defense will receive permission to publish the appearance of this UAV, and then our conversations on this topic will be different...

Here is a list of doubts that do not allow us to consider the Ukrop picture as an image of the new "Geranium-5"

Well, the thing is, sir, that even the names ("Geranium-4", "Geranium-5") came from the "Ukrops"! wink And now we have "ukro-illustrations" with "ukro-names"! request

And whose name is "Shahed" if you consider "Geranium" to be Ukrainian? Justify your reasoning. Maybe I'll agree, my dear!

"Geranium" is "our" name, a Russian one! But the downed UAVs found in Ukraine were named "Geranium-4" and "Geranium-5" by the Ukrainians!

Okay, let's get that out of the way for the sake of clarity! All these names are rather arbitrary, since, as I understand it, there are many more modifications of this UAV than just the number "5."

You're right...there are already quite a few modifications of the "Geranium-2" model alone! And we'll most likely learn the details of the "farm work" involved in "growing" the various "varieties" of "Geraniums" after the war! Incidentally, by naming the new Russian UAVs "Geranium-4" and "Geranium-5,"Ukrainians They cited "Ukrainian intelligence data"! That's how it is!

We need more drones with a takeoff weight of up to 100 kg and a range of 500 km, enough, an 11 hp engine from a brush cutter, two TM-62 mines in the nose, and the cost will be 100,000 rubles, and then there will be a flying AK. drinks
