Cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky tried out the latest fashionable "special clothing" in space for the first time. They spent six hours outside the station.
During this time, the cosmonauts installed equipment for growing semiconductor crystals. If successful, the next step will be to create a miniature solar cell component production facility in outer space.
It's worth specifically focusing on the "suits" in which the cosmonauts performed such complex work. The latest Orlan-MKS series spacesuits, which the cosmonauts used outside the station, are essentially miniature spaceships. They allow people to spend several hours in outer space while feeling comfortable and safe.
The suit's developers guarantee that a person can remain in it autonomously in outer space for up to eight hours, but in reality, it can be used for 10 hours or more. To achieve this, the suit is equipped with a supply of air, electricity, and other resources.
A built-in water cooling system maintains a comfortable temperature. The suit also regulates humidity and other parameters, allowing the astronaut to work freely in outer space without experiencing discomfort.
Its total weight is 114 kilograms. Although the "space suit" is a highly complex system, packed with sophisticated equipment, it is extremely comfortable and completely unrestricts the wearer's freedom of movement.
