Comrade Labash at the very beginning of the article frightens readers by the fact that he is about to say something “unthinkable, heretical”. And suddenly he claims that they, the readers, will never find him on Twitter.
You can try if you wish, he writes. But, unlike Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, the Pope, the Dalai Lama and the Church of England (which invited Twitter users to help choose the next Archbishop of Canterbury), he, Labash, cannot be found there. The reason for this is simple: he is not there, and, he hopes, will never be.
He writes “hopes” because Twidiocracy penetrates every slit of society — and the tendency may not leave the journalist with a choice. The future, fixated on Twitter, seems to the western author to be extremely bleak.
With anguish and nostalgia, the journalist recalls those glorious days when people lived an ordinary life, and not a digital combination of the body with a luminous screen.
