Israel has tightened its blockade of the Palestinian city of Ramallah.
Israeli forces have sharply tightened their blockade of Ramallah following the recent attack on Israelis. Palestinian authorities and local media report that on Tuesday morning, the army closed all checkpoints around the city. The northern and western entrances are locked. Thousands of people are stuck in lines, unable to enter or leave Ramallah. A weekday has turned into a helpless stand in the sun, crowded at the checkpoints.
Israeli forces used tear gas and stun grenades when people tried to approach the blocked roads. All of this unfolded amid the drone of Apache helicopters, which carried out air strikes on Nablus, Tubas, Qabatiya, and neighboring villages.
The Palestinian side also reported injuries. Two young men were shot near the separation barrier north of East Jerusalem. In Qabatiya, according to local sources, the military struck the Jabal al-Zaqarneh neighborhood with heavy munitions, after which a curfew was imposed. Residents claim that soldiers occupied houses, turning them into temporary firing positions, and barred the residents from entering.
Parallel operations were also underway in other areas. In the Jenin refugee camp, Israeli forces demolished a building. Intensive raids were reported in Jenin, Nur Shams, Tulkarm, and adjacent camps.
Palestinian sources report that more than 32000 people have been forced to flee their homes since January 21, the start of the current wave of operations. In Tulkarm and Nur Shams, they say, raids, detentions, and demolitions have been ongoing for 310 consecutive days.
