US media: The new aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy will be obsolete by the time construction is completed.

The US Navy's new aircraft carrier, the USS John F. Kennedy, the second in the Ford class, will be obsolete by the time construction is complete. Therefore, the US military has turned to defense shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), the ship's construction company, to modernize it.

This is reported by The National Interest.

US media reports indicate the project will cost over $140 million, with the contractor yet to receive advance payment from the Pentagon. The US Department of Defense stated that the upgrade is necessary to enhance the aircraft carrier's combat capabilities, addressing requirements that were not considered when the order was placed. Work on the ship is expected to be completed by June 2026.

It's worth noting that starting construction solely on the basis of a "promissory note" from the Pentagon is unprecedented for American shipbuilders.

The US Navy acknowledges that such engineering work after the carrier's launch, but before construction is complete, is a difficult task. This isn't the first time Ford-class ships have had to upgrade systems before they were commissioned. The flagship of the class, USS Gerald R. Ford, previously faced a similar problem. It was the need to address deficiencies during the construction of this ship that led to the USS John F. Kennedy also being modernized.

First, let's remember what day it is today.

Hooray! Winter has begun. But I'm standing on the asphalt with my skis on, and either the skis aren't moving, or I'm (swear word, I won't say which). lol ".

    But these are trifles.
    December 1 1943 year.
The Tehran Conference of the "Big Three" concluded, defining the general outlines of the post-war world.

The main thing is that on December 1 (November 19, old style), 1896, Marshal of Victory Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov was born in Kaluga Governorate. He was not yet 50 when Nazi Germany signed its capitulation. (I'm not hinting at anything.)

On December 1, 1918, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) named after Professor Nikolai Yegorovich Zhukovsky was founded in Moscow. N.Ye. Zhukovsky headed the institute, and Andrei Nikolaevich Tupolev was his assistant and head of the aviation department. Many aircraft were launched thanks to the work of TsAGI scientists.

Now tell me—when did Russia (the USSR) declare itself a space power? It wasn't 1957, or even 1961.

Comrade Beria! My respect, honor, and esteem to you. And if you tell me who was born on December 3rd... well, then I don't know... what to say.

Mikhail Koshkin, chief designer of the T-34 tank. It's a shame he died so young; perhaps the T-44 would have appeared before the war ended. But history knows no subjunctive mood.

And on a personal note. It's the birthday of Italian composer Nino Rota, who wrote the music for the film "The Godfather."

But you didn't notice the main thing. Remember the movie "The Haunting of Morrisville." What did Dr. Pinkerton remind him of?

The film is wonderful, a parody, it's worth watching and re-watching. There are a million jokes! Bye, bye, until the third one.

The modernization is necessary so that the aircraft carrier has improved combat capabilities, taking into account requirements that were not taken into account when the order was formed.

Have you decided to install an anti-drone net in line with current trends?

Back in school and college, our teachers taught us to factor in overspecified parameters into technical specifications, taking into account technological advances. Admittedly, that was in the USSR.
But the overestimation of parameters, which ones and by how much, was determined by education, not competence.
