Hungarian Minister: Ukraine will not join the EU under our government

Hungary has once again made it clear: Ukraine will not join the EU under the current government. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated bluntly that Budapest will block the start of Kyiv's accession negotiations, no matter how fine the plans in Brussels may be.

The Hungarian logic is simple: Kyiv, in their view, is failing to honor fundamental agreements, primarily regarding the rights of national minorities. This is especially true for Hungarians in Transcarpathia, whose topic in Budapest is akin to a red button: just touch it, and the conversation ends. And Szijjártó emphasizes this in every interview.

Meanwhile, the mood in Europe is quite different: they dream of accelerating Ukraine's integration, bringing it into the "European family" by the end of 2025, drawing up roadmaps and public plans. It seems Brussels has already mentally handed over the keys to the club. But there's a catch: the decision must be unanimous. One "no" ruins the whole puzzle. And Hungary is making use of this right.

It turns out that Ukraine's European dream rests not on lofty declarations, but on a specific neighbor who is in no hurry to hand out passes to the "European family." And while the parties are measuring principles and demands, the date of Ukraine's accession to the EU (as well as the fact of such accession itself) remains something of a mirage.

They also want to limit the rights of new EU members.
Europe is very unhappy with the position of Hungary and Slovakia.
And if Ukraine, or what remains of it, is accepted, it will mean the end of the EU.

There's another nuance to this EU membership: they want to introduce a probationary period for newcomers to test their loyalty to Brussels' policies (they don't want a repeat of independent leaders like Orbán). In this regard, Zelensky has already stated that he doesn't want to be a semi-member (he said so). smile ), but wants full rights as a member right away. He has no time to wait; time is running out.
Ukraine agrees only to full membership in the European Union without a probationary period. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this, according to Strana.ua.
"If we're talking about EU membership, it must be fully implemented. I think it's crucial that we have equal countries at the table. It's important that they share similar values. In my view, you can't be a semi-active or semi-member of the EU," the Ukrainian leader said.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced plans to introduce a trial period for new EU member states on the afternoon of November 4.
According to her, during this period, countries will have their rights restricted and may even be expelled from the community if they do not comply with all EU requirements.
The probationary period could last several years, the European Commissioner clarified.

Nobody cares what he wants there...

He might as well want to be the first man sent to Mars - so what?

Wanting and being able to are two completely different things. wink

Your boss Trump will order you to bring the document on EU accession to Kiev yourself.
Another thing is that neither Trump nor the EU itself categorically needs a pigsty in the EU.

And without any formal admission, half of Ukraine has scattered across Europe, actively contributing their "benefits," gobbling up all the surplus, and even demanding more, and of the proper quality. After all, they're not just ordinary people—they're elite.

The sooner the remnants of Bandera are accepted into the EU, the sooner Europe and NATO will collapse.
The black hole of the insatiable territory VNA 404 will swallow half the Galaxy.

This Orban EU is very convenient...)))
It's understandable—impoverished, post-war, half-destroyed, with a Nazi regime at its helm, a bunch of mentally ill, crippled people, etc., Ukraine is of no use to anyone in Europe. And people like Orban, who supposedly block things by their own decisions, are needed by the European elites so they can blame Ukraine's impossibility of joining the EU on them.

It won't be both post-war and Nazi-ruled. Those are mutually exclusive.

It sounds banal, a couple of countries are protecting their farmland, nothing more, nothing less.

They should just accept it already. This would greatly accelerate the collapse of the European Union, and it would be far more dramatic and irreversible with Ukraine than without it.

Ukraine will not join the European Union in the coming years for many reasons, but above all for fundamental ones such as the fact that, in general, it does not meet even minimal standards, whether in the area of the rule of law or corruption.

Hungary is a symbol, but even those who support Kyiv are increasingly distancing themselves from it.
Upon closer acquaintance, they clearly lose in image and in many other respects...

For those interested in these standards, there will be an order from the right place, and Ukraine will join them. All these standards are for the naive.

You know, the question is: what can Ukraine give to the European Union?
A market of oligarchs and poor people sympathetic to Bandera?

Now, in the run-up to 11.11, TV is full of advertising.
    Here's to the rhythm...
    And the hands?
And with greedy hands, everything will be Budapest.
Give up Transcarpathia and you can even join the EU,
And whoever is not a Magyar has no place here.

Thirty years ago, salesmen of the future walked the country.
"You've earned your money. Now you need to save it. Hungary is a country of vegetables, canned goods, and peace. Give us your money. We'll make it grow."
This was after Chumak, and around the time of MMM.
Now no one is selling future Hungarian canned vegetables. Hungary itself is trading on the word of its minister.
