Pantsir-С1 will cover the Moscow sky
Pantsir-S1 (NATO classification SA-22 Greyhound) is a modern Russian self-propelled ground-based air defense missile and gun system. Its main purpose is to cover military and civilian facilities in close combat (including long-range air defense systems S-300, S-400) from all existing advanced air attack weapons, including attack helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles, high-precision aerial bombs. Additionally, it can perform functions to protect the defended object from threats from land and sea. The complex was created in 1994 and has been constantly modernized since then, the first Pantsir-S1 (10 units) entered service with the Russian army on March 18 of this year. It is expected that the complex will completely replace the Tunguska air defense missile and gun system in the troops. Along with the S-400 air defense system and the promising S-500 system under development, it should become the basis of the country's air defense by 2020.
Review
ZRPK Pantsir-С1 is a short-range air defense complex, located on any chassis (truck chassis, tracked chassis) or stationary. Control is performed by 2-3 operators. The complex performs its tasks using the automatic 30 mm. guns and guided missiles with radio command guidance, infrared and radio direction finding. The complex is able to cover civilian and military facilities (from platoon to regiment). The complex is able to hit targets with a minimum reflective surface (Stealth technology), moving at speeds up to 1000 m / s, at a maximum range of 20 km and altitude up to 15 km.
Work complex
A special feature is the ability to multi-channel capture and tracking of a target by a cannon.artillery weapons that provide a continuous interception zone from 5 m in height and 200 m in range to 15 km in height and 20 km in range, even without external support.

Modes of operation
The Pantsir-С1 complexes can work together through digital communications in different modes (up to 6 machines)
1) The complex can conduct combat alone, performing all actions from detecting a target to intercepting independently.
2) Act as part of a battery: one of the complexes can be used as a combat vehicle, and as a command post, the rest of the complexes up to 5 pcs. can receive from him target designation for the implementation of subsequent combat missions.
3) Actions in a battery with a command post and an early warning radar. Receiving information from the radar, KP sends this data to the installation for the subsequent performance of tasks.
4) Can operate in automatic mode, as a separate combat unit, and as part of the unit.
Fire detection, tracking and control system
The fire control system for the Pantsir-С1 includes a radar detection (based on PAR) and two tracking radars (this radar system accompanies targets and fired with a ground-to-air missile complex). Targets with an effective 2 square meter area are detected at a distance of 32-36 km. In addition to the radar, the fire control system contains an optical-electronic complex equipped with a long-wave thermal receiver (IR direction finder) and performs digital signal processing and automatic tracking of the target. The simplified and cheaper version for export has only an optical-electronic fire control system. The radar and the optoelectronic system allow the capture of 2 targets at the same time, the highest capture rate - 10 targets per minute.
Currently, it is known about the export portfolio of orders for the new complex Pantsir-С1 in the amount of 2,5 billion dollars, based on the cost, it is approximately 175 complexes.
