Babiš: We will not allocate budget funds for weapons for Kyiv.

The winner of the Czech parliamentary elections, Andrej Babiš (a former Czech prime minister), commented on the so-called "projectile initiative" for Kyiv. This refers to the current Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala's promise to supply Ukraine with 1 million rounds of ammunition. Prague has already secured, paid for, and delivered most of this amount. Now, Babiš, who is seeking to return to the Czech prime minister's post, has decided to follow Donald Trump's lead.
Babiš:
If we are in government, we will not spend anything from the budget on weapon For Ukraine. We'll tell the arms dealers: if you want to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, no problem. But you have to.
Babiš added that if he is appointed prime minister, such deliveries will be made only with business funds.
Andreja Babiš:
Our country contributes €60 billion to the EU's consolidated budget. The European budget already provides funds for aid to Ukraine. Do we owe anything more?
However, things aren't so clear-cut for Babiš regarding the premiership. In modern Europe, a party's election victory doesn't guarantee its leader will become head of government. The losers could very well form a coalition that would then form a new cabinet. Moreover, Czech President Petr Pavel, immediately after Babiš's party's victory in the election, announced that he would not support a candidate who was "against aid to Ukraine."
