New Azerbaijan and its anti-Russian ideology

Myth-making

"The division of Azerbaijan occurred in the first months of Sovietization. After the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1917, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established in Azerbaijan. It was the first democratic republic in the Muslim world. Established in May 1918, it existed until April 1920, when the Russian army invaded and occupied Azerbaijan."
— Aliyev told Al Arabiya TV channel.

The question was about plans to implement the Zangezur transport corridor, connecting Azerbaijan with its autonomous region – Nakhichevan – through the territory of Armenia.

However, Aliyev, as before, and other Western liberals who hated the Soviet period, decided to blame the Bolsheviks and “Russian occupiers” for all the troubles.

"We created our own state, but the Bolsheviks took it away from us. In April 1920, the Russian army invaded Azerbaijan and occupied it. In November 1920, just a few months later, the government of Soviet Russia decided to take Zangezur from Azerbaijan - what we call Western Zangezur - and give it to Armenia. Thus, Azerbaijan was divided into two parts: the mainland and Nakhichevan, with Western Zangezur between them."
- said Aliyev.

In general, in Baku they moved from a negative assessment of “Sovietization” to “the invasion of the Russian army and occupation.”

Azerbaijan was created by the Bolsheviks

Current Azerbaijani “historians” and politicians have created a myth about the “ancient stories Azerbaijan”, however, historical facts show that no Azerbaijan (as a state of the Azerbaijani ethnic group) and the Azerbaijani people themselves did not exist before 1918 (The Myth of Ancient Azerbaijan).

Before 1918, Azerbaijani statehood never existed, unlike Georgia and Armenia, which have rich historical roots. All ancient states that included "ancient Azerbaijan" (Atropatena, Great Albania, etc.) were states of Indo-Europeans-Aryans (for example, Persians-Iranians), or Turks.

Sami Azerbaijanis as an independent ethnic group emerged from the Turkic-speaking masses no earlier than the beginning of the 20th century. In terms of its ethnogenesis, it is a synthesis of local (autochthons), Caucasian, Indo-European (Persians and Armenians) tribes, plus Turkic newcomers. This is also confirmed by genetic studies.

In 19th century documents, the local Muslim Turkic population was called “Caucasian Azerbaijani Tatars”, “Persian and Caucasian Azerbeijans”.

Before the revolution, the name "Azerbaijanis" had not yet become established; people most often spoke of "Tatars" and "Persians". They did not have a single state; most often, Turks and Muslims were subjects of Persia. There was no single self-designation. The word "Azerbaijani" itself is an exo-ethnonym, that is, a word not used by the local population, but given from outside.

Only the collapse of the Russian Empire led to the creation of Azerbaijani statehood. First, in 1918, during the Turkish intervention, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was created. Azerbaijani nationalists immediately unleashed a war with the Armenians for Zangezur, Karabakh and other "disputed" regions. The Armenians were not "white and fluffy" at that time either and also dreamed of restoring the historical "Great Armenia".

The "Russian occupiers", i.e. the Bolsheviks, stopped this slaughter and old feud. At the time of the conclusion of peace treaties and the beginning of territorial demarcation, Zangezur was controlled by Armenian troops, and Karabakh was controlled by Azerbaijani troops. As a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani war of 1918-1920, the borders of the Armenian SSR and the Azerbaijan SSR were formed. In 1920, the Red Army entered Baku (Baku “Blitzkrieg” of the Red Army), the Azerbaijan SSR was created.

The Bolsheviks stopped the slaughter between Christians and Muslims in the Caucasus, between different nationalities and tribes. Even earlier, the Russians (Russian Empire) saved the peoples of the South Caucasus from complete destruction and assimilation during the wars of two regional empires - Persia and Turkey.

The Russian and Soviet authorities recreated the Georgian and Armenian statehoods and created the Azerbaijani one.

The local language was officially considered Turkic from 1918 to 1936. In 1936, Azerbaijan joined the USSR as a union republic. The Azerbaijani Turks were officially called Azerbaijanis, and their national language was called Azerbaijani. At the same time, by decision of the Soviet government, the Azerbaijani script was transferred from Latin to Cyrillic. After 1991, the language was again transferred to Latin based on its Turkish version.

As a result, Azerbaijan as a state of Turkic Azerbaijanis appeared only in 1918 as a result of the catastrophe that destroyed the Russian Empire and the Turkish intervention. The Bolsheviks nurtured Azerbaijani statehood.

"Ukrainization"

Under the rule of the “occupiers,” Azerbaijan began to flourish, the population grew rapidly (from 2 million in 1917 to 7 million in 1989), a developed economy was formed (based on the oil industry), and a national intelligentsia and elite were created.

And Heydar Aliyev (1923–2003), the father of the current president, who in the early 1980s was a member of the highest nomenklatura of the USSR, also belonged to it. He was a KGB general of the USSR, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, and first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

With the mythology that has now been adopted in Baku, Heydar Aliyev is also a “Soviet occupier”, but no one in Azerbaijan will call him that.

In fact, In the new Azerbaijan they build their ideology on anti-Sovietism and anti-Russianness (Russophobia). Only previously they restrained themselves from the obvious radicalism that flourished in the Nazi Baltics and Ukraine. They preferred to "trade" rather than conflict.

This ideology is based on historical confrontation with the Russian world and Russian history. What this leads to can be seen in the example of Hitler's Germany or "ancient Ukraine-Rus". Ruins of cities and millions of victims.

Why is history being distorted in Baku?

Baku is dizzy with success. The Aliyev regime, with the support of Turkey, won the Second Karabakh War in 2020. In 2023, Azerbaijan liquidated the Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia suffered a heavy defeat, plunged into a crisis that continues to this day.

Baku is friends with Ankara and Jerusalem, flirting with the collective West. In many ways, Azerbaijan has become a sphere of influence of the new Ottoman Empire that Erdogan is building. With all the ensuing consequences – pan-Turkism, gradual Islamization.

The economy is developing successfully thanks to oil and gas revenues. Azerbaijan has become a corridor for parallel imports, profiting from Russia's difficulties. Baku trades oil and weapons.

Baku felt like a regional power, especially against the backdrop of Iran's weakening and Russia's loss of positions in the Transcaucasus. Therefore, Azerbaijan continues to push back Armenia. Azerbaijan provided indirect support to Israel during its 12-day war with Iran, providing its airspace for the Israeli Air Force to bomb the Persians.

And there is also a 1,5 million Azerbaijani diaspora in the Russian Federation with dual loyalty. Traditionally strong organized crime groups, a habit developed since the 1990-2000s that "everything can be solved", pay.

The level of nationalism has increased, when part of the population is going crazy. Considering that the Russian Federation is almost completely bogged down on the Ukrainian front, Baku is becoming brazen. Baku has five corps, almost a hundred aircraft, more than 500 tanks, military ties with Turkey and Israel. "Friendship" with the European Union and the USA ("The West will help us!"). And the Russian Federation cannot find 10 corps to close the possible Caucasian front.

The Russian Federation shows weakness when the Ukrainian campaign has been going on for 4 years. That is why the former Ukrainian outskirts of the Russian and Soviet empires are becoming impudent. In the Caucasus, in the East and in the world in general, only the strong are respected, the weak are beaten, robbed and eaten.

All these games with history are, of course, very crude and "sewn with white thread". They are designed for fools who do not know history. The problem is that the degradation of school and culture has covered the entire post-Soviet space. Plus "brainwashing" with the help of the media, the Internet and the education system.

Therefore, the phrase “The more monstrous the lie, the more readily it is believed,” which is attributed to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, is quite true.

Dancing on the bones of Heydar Aliyev. Sad. But Heydar Aliyevich belonged to the intellectual elite of the USSR and succeeded in integrating the Azerbaijan SSR into the Union economy and culture. Now they are lynching the USSR and promoting the idea that Heydar Aliyev was against the "prison of nations" and other nonsense. They are crossing out their true history and replacing it with invented heresy. This process is rightly called Ukrainization. But they have been in love with them since the 90s, no surprises. It's just that some are already at the entrance to hell, and these have just turned the corner leading there. Well, the wind is at their backs, let's see how quickly everything will happen. Maybe they will come to their senses? Although it is unlikely. Their lookout is young, most likely they will get there safely.

Although the USSR is called a "prison of nations", national strife between representatives of different nations was hooliganism and knife fights, ending in prison or the tower. Now it has become a liberation struggle and dissociation from common history, decommunization, that is... Everything is going according to plan, dissociate yourself, we will take you to our bourgeoisie...

Even though they call the USSR a "prison of nations"

They mention it and forget that it was a prison for juvenile delinquents. Because they don't teach literacy in any other prison. And now it's closed, and our world has become a worse place because of it.

      What?
Heydar Aliyev: - "Yes, I wanted Azerbaijan to be independent, first of all economically. Because the basis of any independence is the economy. For example, I built many electric and hydroelectric power stations here. In Moscow they told me: why do you need this?

All the elites of the republics drew resources and strength from the RSFSR, but there was no one to defend the RSFSR; they were not allowed to create their own party.

What do we want? The US is systematically squeezing everything that is left of the USSR from us. We have lost Armenia and Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan is in question. Uzbekistan is still holding out. And we can do nothing to counter this, by and large.

        I wouldn't rush to conclusions.
History is not written in just one year.
As for the US, they don't have time yet.
Azerbaijanis Without Turkey, there's nothing. The US is money and weapons. But they've squandered it with Ukraine. Europe? It still has to explain itself to its own people.
Perhaps the only country after the Second World War that will receive relief will be Russia. The rest are losers. A lot was invested, but the return was zero, even negative if you count the debts.
Turkey. Russia can deal with them quickly. Time is on our side.
Ukraine will be restored, and hydrocarbon supply channels will be the first to be restored. Turkey's role as a hub-intermediary will be greatly reduced.
        This will hit the economy.
Armenia and Azerbaijanis only in appearance in silence.
The long-eared rat won't leave Moscow. Why?
        And how impudent he was..
The reasons are the same. The US is going through a difficult period, and Trump is going through a very difficult period before the primary elections. Regional affairs are currently on hold.
The Armenians' revenge will be a matter of time.
        And under a different president.
The opposition is growing stronger, both in business circles and among believers, and the school teacher Soros has gone through the roof.
They'll knock him off. Meanwhile, he's being cheeky, showing off his bike-riding tourist status in Moscow, showing hearts at museums.
So he relaxes and meets with Putin in between, like, what a bunch of nonsense.
I heard on TV today that he's a liar and dishonest. He initially said the Russians were to blame for the conflict because they didn't fight for the Armenians. Today he thanked Putin for his help in resolving the conflict.
When did he ever tell the truth?
So everything is still to come.
All of our former economies will eventually come to Russia. China is certainly trying to develop border areas, but politically, they're not inviting anyone to join them. Only business is clear here: our hydrocarbons, either supply or transit, and nuclear energy. China trades with everyone.
But China is tougher than Russia. It is the world's leading economy and is developing.
Russia is more interesting, it can't really screw up its fins, and cooperation is about equally profitable.

And what is surprising - during the aggression of Azerbaijan, Russia supported Azerbaijan with words and hope for the best, with inaction. As Churchill said, "if you choose shame over war, you will get both shame and war."

CTD: Russia deservedly received shame, the complete betrayal of Aliyev, and the result of this shame is being forced out of the South Caucasus... and then losing it with the closure of Gyumri “at the demand of the people.”

Well, for now it's just pissing on water, you know... Aliyevs come and go, and with the one who comes after him - we can work. We look at Georgia, we think a lot... only then we write something.

        Quote: Mikhail Drabkin
and then the loss of it with the closure of Gyumri “at the demand of the people”

As far as I understand, rather than losing Gyumri, it is easier to "lose" Armenia. That is, completely, from the world map. Yes

But I have a question: at the SCO summit, India and Pakistan did not agree on the accession of Azerbaijan and Armenia, respectively.
And how did Russia vote on this issue? Or did we agree to these traitors joining the SCO? Why do all Russian media outlets unanimously voice the position of other countries, but keep silent about our position?

The current president of Azerbaijan betrayed his father, Heydar Aliyev, with one phrase...
After all, Heydar Aliyev, in light of his son’s words, turns out to be “the main occupier of the Azerbaijani people.”
He was the head of the KGB of Azerbaijan since 1960 and, therefore, in the opinion of the Western "civilized" elite, the main tyrant of the republic...
And then, from 1969, he was the 1st secretary of the Communist Party of the Azerbaijan SSR...

It so happened that my relatives once crossed paths with Heydar Aliyev. This event took place somewhere after the mid-60s. In my youth, it was just one of the events for me, and then there was no one to ask about it.

Since the early 50s, my dad did his military service in the air defense units near Baku. Then he became an officer and got married. In the mid-60s, a young lieutenant, my dad's sister's husband, arrived in the brigade. After 2-3 years, their older sister came to visit them. She was very sociable and had a sense of humor.
The whole company spent the summer on vacation on the shores of the Caspian Sea. They had three sons with them - all small, including me.
The older sister read some Ukrainian humorous story with expression.

Three men came out of the sea. Two of them settled down not far away, and the third asked permission to listen. When they finished listening to the humorous story, the man thanked them and went swimming again, and the third stayed. My relatives did not see the things of these people near them. Then the older sister came up and asked the remaining man: "Who was that?"
    The answer came: "Heydar Aliyev."
At that time my family didn't know who this person was.

We must not forget that Heydar Aliyev was dragged to the Kremlin by the same person who dragged Gorbachev there. That is, Andropov. Well, it was Andropov's office that found and grabbed every farcester or "dissident", but failed to see the enemy in Gorbachev, Yakovlev and hundreds of "Lansbergis" in the field. Or did they not want to see it, especially after Andropov's death, because they already had a roof over them made up of people like Gorbachev and that same Aliyev? That is why Aliyev was for Gorbachev with both hands and supported him when he became General Secretary. But here's the problem: it turns out that Andropov dragged Aliyev from Azerbaijan to Moscow at a time when Aliyev was spinning things in Azerbaijan even worse than Rashidov in Uzbekistan. And in his place in Azerbaijan, moving to Moscow at the call of Andropov, Aliyev left people who continued his previous affairs there. But Gorbachev sensed that in Azerbaijan things would break out no worse than Rashidov's affairs, and Aliyev quickly ran back to Azerbaijan to save his own skin and the skin of his accomplices in Azerbaijan. Well, and then 1991 arrived and the collapse of the entire USSR. So there is no need to put Heydar Aliyev in the ranks of the intellectual and intelligent elite of the USSR, supposedly holding the USSR together. Prilepin spoke beautifully about such an intelligentsia and such intellectuals. Read his quote about the intelligentsia and intellectuals of the USSR.

good Victor Pelevin, Intellectual and intellectual
Speaking about the intelligentsia's guilt before the people, he constantly used two terms that seemed synonymous to me: "intellectual" and "intellectual". I couldn't resist asking:
        — How does an intellectual differ from an intelligent person?
“The difference is very significant,” he replied. “I can only explain it allegorically. Do you understand what this means?”
        I nodded.
        - When you were very little, there were a hundred thousand people in this city who were paid to kiss the ass of a disgusting red dragon. Which you probably don't even remember anymore...
I shook my head. Once in my youth I had actually seen a red dragon, but I had already forgotten what it looked like - I only remembered my own fear. Pavel Ivanovich was unlikely to have had this incident in mind.
        - It is clear that these hundred thousand hated the dragon and dreamed of being ruled by a green toad who fought with the dragon. In general, they came to an agreement with the toad, poisoned the dragon with lipstick received from the CIA and began to live in a new way.
        - What does intellect have to do with it?
        - Wait, - he raised his palm. - At first they thought that with the toad they would do exactly the same thing, only they would receive ten times more money. But it turned out that instead of a hundred thousand kissers, three professionals are now needed who, working eight hours a day, will give the toad a continuous deep blowjob. And who exactly out of the hundred thousand will make it into these three will be determined on the basis of an open competition, where it will be necessary to demonstrate not only high professional qualities, but also the ability to smile optimistically with the corners of the mouth during work...
        — Frankly, I’ve already lost the thread.
        - Here's the thing. Those hundred thousand were called intelligentsia. And these three are called intellectuals.

In 1936, Azerbaijan joined the USSR as a union republic.

Before that, it was part of the ZSFSR, this state had a federal state structure and was divided into several republics, which in addition to Soviet Azerbaijan, included Soviet Armenia and Soviet Georgia. The ZSFSR was created as a result of the decision of the Caucasian Bureau of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) adopted in November 1921, supported by V.I. Lenin. The unification of Transcaucasia was caused by the need to prevent nationalist uprisings and restore economic ties between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, destroyed during the Civil War in Russia, and to simplify the management of the Caucasus by the state leadership. Officially, the ZSFSR, until December 13, 1922 - the Federal Union of Socialist Soviet Republics of Transcaucasia, was formed on March 12, 1922 at a conference in Tiflis, in which representatives of the Central Executive Committee of the three republics participated. On December 13, 1922, the 1st Transcaucasian Congress of Soviets in Baku transformed the FSSR into the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic while maintaining the independence of the republics that were part of it. In 1936, the ZSFSR was abolished as a result of the adoption of the Constitution of the USSR, which declared Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia independent union republics within the Soviet Union.

The Russian and Soviet authorities recreated the Georgian and Armenian statehoods and created the Azerbaijani one.
The Bolsheviks nurtured the Azerbaijani statehood. A national intelligentsia and elite were created.
. No, author: the Russians created a united Great Russia, populating the outskirts with millions of Russian people, and the Bolsheviks fiercely fought against Russian chauvinism and created states and nurtured nationalists.

What are they surprised about now?

By the way, it is surprising that, speaking about the statehood of Azerbaijan, the author managed not to notice the Baku Commune, which arose EARLIER than the ADR, these are NOT occupiers, locals, it recognized the Council of People's Commissars of Russia, fought with the ADR and died only because of a Turkish strike. Aliyev also "did not notice" these inconvenient key moments The occupiers were precisely his beloved Turks, and his ADR called them against the locals.

Everyone knows about the 26 Baku commissars who were shot - so Aliyev liquidated their memorial in Baku, erasing the memory of them.

By the way, the 27th Baku Commissar A. Mikoyan, a member of the future PB VKPb... survived, because he actively gave up his big comrades, for which he was pardoned. And comrade Beria actively worked for Musavat counterintelligence, giving up his big comrades.

The remaining surviving Baku commissars were... destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 37-41 - Stalin's favorite - namely the leader of Azerbaijan Bagirov, who was shot, in turn, for numerous crimes in the 1950s...

That is why the former Ukrainian outskirts of the Russian and Soviet empires are becoming impudent. New Azerbaijan and its anti-Russian ideology

You can write "A new country from the CIS and its anti-Russian ideology". It will suit everyone.
In the Union, they carried out a program of internationalism in combination with the national identity of peoples. They studied the culture and history of peoples. They wrote down heroes. But what they got was some kind of Nazism. Then the times of development of these countries as part of the Russian Empire and the USSR will be called occupation, and they will accuse us of colonization and in general that they live poorly. And so, if not Mars, then the Moon would have been populated for sure.

"There is no place for anti-Sovietists on this holy holiday": Peking University students disrupted the speech of the President of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II began with a scandal - students at Peking University refused to listen to his speech until Aliyev publicly apologized for slandering the Soviet Union.

"We remember the role played by the USSR and personally by comrades Stalin, Brezhnev and Gromyko in the victory over militarist Japan. Therefore, we will not tolerate a caveman anti-communist on our land, especially on such a day," said the head of the local Komsomol cell, Chiang Kai-shek.

Aliyev refused to answer the students' questions, and then the young people began to perform the songs "Moscow Nights" and "Moscow-Beijing". The head of Azerbaijan tried to continue the performance, but, realizing the futility of his aspirations, he left the university.

According to the Renmin Ribao newspaper, Aliyev complained about the students' actions to the Chinese Foreign Ministry. However, the ministry immediately told the head of Azerbaijan that "China is a democratic country in which citizens are accustomed to calling things by their proper names."

Azerbaijan is just a small pimple in the Caucasus, the same pimple as Georgia and Armenia.
Not the same. Much more important. And Azerbaijan is aware of its importance and significance for us. For it, Azerbaijan, is a land bridge connecting Russia and Iran (and through Iran connecting Russia and India). It just so happens that only three countries, bordering each other, cover all of Eurasia from the Arctic Ocean to the Indian Ocean. These are us, Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan between us.
If Azerbaijan is ours, then we immediately completely exclude any illusions among our Central Asian and Kazakh partners that they will be able to extend their oil and gas pipelines to Europe bypassing Russia (or Azerbaijan, which is tied to us). Not a single locomotive or truck will bypass our three countries from the East (from China, Korea) on the way to the West. Neither by land nor by sea (on ferries). And if we also close the airspace for flights of aircraft from unfriendly countries, then flights of civil aviation from unfriendly countries will be finished. And you won't be able to fly around us either!!
Neither Georgia, nor, especially, Armenia, possess even a hundredth of the importance for us (and Iran) that Azerbaijan possesses.
Back in the 1990s, we should have stopped fawning over Armenia, but sent it in a certain direction, imposed sanctions against Armenia, and even used military force to help Azerbaijan restore its sovereignty over its entire territory. Provided, of course, that Azerbaijan would be the third to enter our union treaty with Belarus.
But, alas, we preferred Armenia then. Therefore, it is absolutely logical that Azerbaijan switched to Turkey.

There is a way by sea.
But it is important to understand that, firstly, there are storms in the Caspian Sea, in which ships, unfortunately, sink. Thus, on November 11, 2007, the dry cargo ship Kamyust-1 (home port - Taganrog) sank in the neutral waters of the Caspian Sea. The ship was sailing from Astrakhan to Iran with a cargo of metal and empty sea containers, the total tonnage was 2270 tons. According to the sailors, the ship sank due to two eight-meter waves that washed over the dry cargo ship from the stern, and it went under water within two minutes. The crew of 12 people managed to move to four life rafts with food and water supplies. As a result of the rescue operation, only three of the 12 people were saved. Nine crew members, including the captain (his body was found) - died or were declared dead.
Secondly, as you may know, the Caspian Sea has been experiencing a powerful regression for over 15 years now, and it shows no signs of stopping.
        https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/7168225
Water is also leaving the berths in sea ports. Therefore, it is no longer possible to load sea vessels at full draft, since they will not approach the berths at full draft. The Volga-Caspian Sea Canal, into the deepening of which our country has been pouring tens of billions of rubles annually in recent years, stubbornly resists this deepening and refuses to deepen.
        https://logirus.ru/news/infrastructure/perevozchiki_teryayut_do_-20_mln_iz-za_neobkhodimosti_uglubleniya_volgo-kaspiyskogo_kanala.html
Thirdly, sea transportation means two extra cargo transfers - at the loading port (Iran) and at the unloading port (Russia). And each extra transfer is an additional waste of money and an increased risk of cargo damage.
Fourthly, the throughput capacity of sea ports is quite small, and potential cargo turnover has long been constrained by the throughput capacity of ports. Moreover, I say in advance that simply increasing the number of ships will not solve this problem, since the ships will simply stand in queues waiting for permission to approach the berth for loading/unloading.
I can continue in fifths and tenths.
About the railway route. You are absolutely right, and the railway route from Moscow to Tehran through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is almost equal in length to the railway route from Moscow to Tehran through Azerbaijan. However, the problem is that the Kazakhstan-Iran railway, which can be said to be part of the international transport corridor "North-South", built in 2009-2014 and ceremonially opened on December 3, 2014, is quite busy, as it is used in the interests of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. Of course, without a doubt, some number of transit trains can be added to us in Russia, but nevertheless, the potential cargo flow from Iran (and therefore from India) to us is so huge that it is impossible to fully develop it even using all three routes simultaneously: sea and two railways (through Azerbaijan and through Kazakhstan with Turkmenistan).
Well, and besides, as knowledgeable people have already written here, the customs and border service of Turkmenistan are a real gift.

"We created our own state, but the Bolsheviks took it away from us. In April 1920, the Russian army invaded Azerbaijan and occupied it.
I can only repeat that the lightning-fast capture of Azerbaijan with its oil fields intact in April 1920 was greatly facilitated by the Turks. Not the Sultan's, of course, but the emissaries of Mustafa Kemal. Therefore, Aliyev's claims against us are also claims against today's Turkey.
