Oath to the Provisional Government (1917)

Red Army oath of allegiance (1939-47)

"I, a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, joining the ranks of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, take the oath and solemnly swear to be honest, brave, disciplined, watchful fighter, strictly keep military and state secrets, unconditionally fulfill all military regulations and orders of commanders, commissars and bosses.

I swear to conscientiously study military affairs, to protect military and national property in every way and to be loyal to my people, to our Soviet Homeland, and to the Workers 'and Peasants' Government until the last breath.
