'Treads vs. wheels debate no longer relevant': French general calls for preparations for full-scale war

AMX-10P

In recent years, the French command has been effectively transforming its troops into light expeditionary forces designed to fight a technologically inferior enemy. Thus, a large-scale program of new wheeled vehicles, mainly armored cars, was launched, while tracked vehicles such as the AMX-10P IFV were being phased out.

However, against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict, a number of high-ranking military officials have come to the conclusion that this approach is irrational. The magazine Fantassins, published by the Infantry School, published an article by General Regis Antonioz, commander of the 2nd Armored Brigade, as well as the commanders of the 92nd Infantry Regiment and the 16th Rifle Battalion, in which they present arguments in favor of equipping the army with tracked infantry fighting vehicles.

As indicated, in preparation for a full-scale war, virtually all NATO countries are upgrading their mechanized units by purchasing new tracked IFVs, as they are superior to wheeled armored vehicles in terms of tactical mobility, firepower, and armor/survivability.

As the French military urges, heavy brigades are needed on the battlefield: “the dispute between tracks and wheels is no longer relevant.” The new IFV should be equipped with an ATGM with a firing range of at least 4000 m, as well as a 30-mm or 40-mm automatic cannon and have anti-FPV capabilities.drones. At the same time, its crew should consist of 2 fighters, so that more soldiers can act as a landing team. This approach is very similar to the concept of the new American XM30/M30 IFV.

How many funny insights of various kinds of European and other warriors ... and all funny ... a wheel or a truck ... but that's not the question because each technical solution has its own niche of application where it is effective

Louis De Finesse came to mind. And his police cars. When the colonies stop feeding them, their desire to fight will diminish. They will have to get food. And the blue will disappear by itself.

They know how to obtain food and means of subsistence, by and large, only through deception and robbery, and this is already at the genetic level, taking into account their experience...
And as history no longer even indicates, but shouts, the desire to fight among these latent and already obvious ones disappears only in the case of a good dressing down of the whip6ala.
So let's get ready, guys, to meet this
a pack of moral scum, every single one of them!
SVO is just an introduction to the main action!

And what's wrong with wheeled vehicles in a defensive war in Europe against an invading Russia? On the contrary, there are only advantages. But when conducting offensive operations in the East, it's really not so good. The bastards are getting ready to take Moscow again

      Russia invading France?
      Why not Australia or Canada?
What could be the purpose of such undertakings?
When we can knock France out of the top seven, twenty, and even the top hundred developed countries in half an hour?

And they joked about Soviet technology with tracks and about the desire to put everything on tracks. For example, the S300PMU air defense missile system.

"the debate between tracks and wheels is no longer relevant."

There is no such dispute - modern armies and military-industrial complexes must have all necessary types of chassis available and in production.
The new IFV must be equipped with an ATGM with a firing range of at least 4000 m

An outdated requirement. Why have an ATGM that requires line-of-sight with the target and a range of no more than 4000 m when there are longer-range, tactically flexible drones?

These drones will soon learn to destroy themselves automatically, and only UAVs will remain for remote tasks: reconnaissance, surveillance, target designation (for guided missiles and shells), relay, electronic warfare, and transportation.
And these tasks no longer apply to the IFV, which must have weapons for direct confrontation and self-defense or as a carrier of specialized weapons (digital communications hub; close-range: radar, electronic warfare, air defense, mortar self-propelled gun, launcher of missiles for various purposes).

We also need to prepare ourselves for a fight and if anything, be the first to rush into it, as we learned in 41, not to let them catch us off guard.

I've always liked the French military uniforms, they're pleasing to the eye and make you laugh.

And for a less financially stressful preparation for war, quickly start buying Russian energy resources...

Didn't NATO watch the video of how the BMP 1 was being developed? There was a wheeled BMP there, and I really liked it, but they cited poor cross-country ability. That's true, but the wheeled one has higher mobility in normal conditions, but where in combat was it normal? That's why the BMP 1 is a Basurman, a good topic, it has thicker armor, you can attach dynamic armor, in general, a floating BMP BTR is all true, what our generals have in mind. hi
