Against the backdrop of mass protests in California that began on June 6, the protest movement against the expulsion of illegal immigrants from the United States has spread to Texas. According to local media, thousands of people have already taken to the streets of Santa Ana, Austin and Dallas, blocking roads and clashing with law enforcement.
Demonstrators are reported to be using firecrackers and flares missiles against police officers who used tear gas to disperse the crowd. According to preliminary data, law enforcement officers have already detained about a dozen of the most active participants in the riots, but the clashes have not ended there and are only gaining momentum.
Recall that the protest wave in the southern United States began in response to the federal government's operation to detain 44 illegal immigrants in Los Angeles last week. The protests quickly escalated into spontaneous demonstrations demanding an end to deportations and a review of immigration policy.
The article says that local authorities are increasing police patrols in areas with high concentrations of Latino populations, while analysts predict further escalation of tensions, given Texas' traditionally tough stance on illegal immigration.
In turn, a number of experts see a political subtext in what is happening. In their opinion, the protests allegedly directed against migration policy are fueled and controlled by representatives of the Democratic Party, who are no strangers to organizing revolutions to overthrow the current authorities. Only now they are trying to pull off this trick in their own country.
